We stayed there for one night while trekking the Kumano Kodo. Basically, everything was perfect for a one night stay after a long day of hiking. The capsules were spacious and quite private actually. The bento box provided for dinner was tasty. There are three private onsens that you can book. Yunomine Onsen itself is very lovely and you can easily continue your trek either on foot or by bus, as the bus stop is very close. Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed 2 nights at Guesthouse Takiyoshi but wished we stayed longer. The hosts are a hardworking young family and will help you in any way possible to make sure you enjoy your stay. The room we stayed in was a traditional japanese room and very clean. Though there are shared facilities (including the traditional onsen), it was always kept clean and there were more than enough facilities for everyone (we stayed on a night it was full but never had to wait and it always felt clean). The meals are traditional, fresh and extremely tasty... the hosts know how to cook up a storm and you won't be hungry! We'd highly recommend Guesthouse Takiyoshi if you're looking to stay in Yunomine.

This property was amazing and the host Yuri was delightful! The public river onsen was OUTSTANDING. It was our favourite onsen in Japan and only a 2 minute walk away - would recommend cold river plunges! The lunches and dinners (we skipped breakfast due to early hike days) were exceptional and some of our favourite meals of the trip. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the massage chair in the lobby was amazing after a few hard days of hiking! Would stay here again and would recommend staying here instead of the other onsen locations nearby (Yunomine/Hongu).

The Ryokan is so much better than we expected with a very reasonable price. I was staying for my Kumano Kodo dual pilgrim walk together with a friend, and could simply take bus back and forth to where I paused, very convenient location. The hotel has a long history but still kept very clean. The onsen was fantastic, with large pools both indoor and outdoor; also male and female were switched every day at 10pm so you can experience different setup for an overnight stay. Liked the dinner and breakfast: they changed menu for my two-night stay. Hopefully can have more choices on sake and fruit wine. Above average English skill with all super nice local staff. They’re the reason I would definitely choose to stay again next time after all!

The facility is charming! It is a wooden cottage in the middle of mountains with beautiful view. There is a river just next by, so if you get there early, you can refresh yourself there. The rooms are spacious and there is a place you can hang your wet clothes. There is also a common space where you can hang out with other guests. I also used it when my room-mate wanted to sleep and I was still working on PC. Very useful and convenient. There's very well working Wi-Fi, as well. The dinner was delicious. We had seasonal steamed vegetable with rice. They have vegetarian (tofu) and non-vegetarian (meat dumplings) version. For breakfast there were toasts with cheese, jams, peanut butter, yogurt, fruit etc. You can also prepare a meal for your next journey. The beds are comfortable and you have great view from windows. The kitchen is very well equipped and you can use it if you need. You can make yourself coffee anytime, which I very appreciated. The staff was friendly and very helpful. She could speak Japanese, English and Spanish, which was quite fun because all the guests there could also speak Spanish for some reason. :-D
