The accommodation and the host are exceptional. The accommodation is a traditional and lovely renovated Japanese house in the small village of Ocho. It has a spacious shared living room. The sleeping rooms are Japanese style with Tatami and Futon. We stayed two nights, and the host prepared breakfast and dinner for us which was both very good. The second night we had Okonomiyaki for dinner and ate together with the host. [Note: Dinner is not always available and must be reserved in advanced. There is also a spacious kitchen which we, however, didn't use.] The host is very friendly and takes time for a chat. Although the village is remote it is more than worth a visit. It can frequently be reached by bus from Hiro station which we took at the day of arrival, or by ferry which we took at the day of departure. To get around the islands you can rent brand new electric bicycles at the accommodation. The old town of Mitarai can even be reached on foot within 15min. The village and the islands in general are very quiet. If you don't come with your own car, it's recommended to plan a bit in advance. There is a supermarket in the village. And you can find some restaurants in the old town of Mitarai. However, most do only open on weekends and holidays.

Great location with beautiful clean and tidy rooms with amazing views. All set up perfectly to cater for an overnight stay when cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English. Yummy croissants and coffee for breakfast. Would highly recommend staying at WAKKA. Perfect for our family of 5. We hired WAKKA’s e-bikes and used their service to forward our luggage. It made cycling a breeze.

The property is wonderful and I’d say probably the nicest place I’ve ever stayed. We spent three nights here. Wish it had been longer! This is partly due to the exceptional service. This is a family run establishment, mother and two daughters. They were so kind and friendly and went out of their way to help us with every aspect of our trip there. One of the daughters kindly ordered taxis for us when we needed and made great touristic suggestions. She and her husband even took us to help us hire bicycles near by for our day trip cycling. The food was out of this world - both breakfast and dinner - and everything was explained to us so we knew exactly what we were eating and how to eat it! The baths were a special treat also - one of them was sea water! Honestly, we were genuinely sad to leave as we didn’t want to say goodbye to these lovely people. Thank you for making our holiday so special.

Everything was amazing. Clean, new, fast WiFi, great onsen, free parking. Room is very spacious for japan, it even had a couch to relax. Amazing value for money.
