We wanted to experience a traditional Japanese property in a rural area which is exactly what we got. The place was huge - you get the whole proprty to yourself The hosts Nikki and Diaki (who live in the house next door) were fantastic and communication in English was not problem. On one of the nights they took us to the local craft beer bar - Noh Land Brewery - the beer was excellent. There weren't any restaurants nearby but there is a small shop next door which was excellently stocked with all sorts of fresh fish and meat. The kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal. You ideally need a car as it is a little remote but it was the perfect base for exploring the Southern Japenese Alps area and the Magome-Tsumago trail. We stayed in Nov and it was besutiful and it must be a great place in the summer as it has a lovely terranced area and a small stream in the garden. We had a wonderful experience and the perfect break whilst travelling between Tokyo and Kyoto.

What a delight! Such a comfortable and cosy home, quiet, relaxing. Next door is cafe 42, with all types of music, meals and drinks. Easy walk to the station, and from there you can access points of Nakasendo.

My favorite accommodation in Japan. The house is beautiful, spotless, peaceful.. I found myself wanting to live there haha. And the host is super friendly and kind. He recommended an awesome place to have dinner, he drove me and the other guest to Magome so we could do the trail, AND he got me an adaptor that I was missing because mine didn't work. I was very grateful.

Really friendly hosts and loved the experience of sleeping in a traditional Japanese house. The outdoor area with the barbecue was also really enjoyable and the house had everything we needed.

It was a very well renovated 150year old traditional Japanese house. Facilities inside are fully modern especially the kitchen, shower toilet, heating and cooling systems, lighting. The beds and futons were all clean and v comfortable. The host, Ken Ito San, introduced us to the house especially as foreigners we needed some tips. He also helped us book dinner at an izakaya called Yasohachi nearby. Superb meal there by Chef Takahashi. We enjoyed the clean crisp country air and the starry skies. Definitely re stay if in this area.

Lovely clean house with view off the rice fields! 30 minute drive to Magome-Juku and 38 min to Tsumago town by car, which is ideal. Owners have great communication, would definitely recommend this great stay!! 😄👍🏼
