I went to Wakkanai for two purposes.

I went to Wakkanai for two purposes. I wanted to see Cape Soya - the northernmost point in Japan. I ended up taking a taxi to get there which wasn't cheap. I also wanted to ride the train the entire length of Hokkaido and Wakkanai was the starting point. Unfortunately Wakkanai seems to be an economically depressed town.

We would like to stay another day or two in Wakkanai the...

We would like to stay another day or two in Wakkanai the next time we go and visit. As it was we spent less than an hour in Cape Soya, which was basically our main objective, the northernmost point in Hokkaido. We enjoyed the park near the Gate of Ice and Snow as well as the observation tower. The view of the city from that vantage point was very nice.

Great place to stay at in Wakkanai. Hosts were so hospitable and gave me suggestions for my travels in Hokkaido. They also helped me book my next accommodation in Rishiri which was also great! The bedroom was really clean and I woke up very refreshed and reenergised in the morning. In the morning when I woke up there were deers in front of the house. The place is a small inn with only 3 guest bedrooms. Everything is very clean and cozy. Would definitely book there again if I ever visit Wakkanai again.

I enjoyed my "cabane" in Wakkanai... Lower space of a 4 bed mix-dorm, good light, desk, small box for valables with a key, curtain privacy. The commun lounge, dining room and kitchen were a nice spot to discussion with other travellers vans staff members. Osaki did his upmost to assist me and other travellers while I why there and saved literally another traveller trip. I definiteoy be back someday... ☺️

The staff was friendly. Though we had no common language, a translating device was used for effective communication. Very nice dinner was provided at short notice and the Japanese style breakfast was so filling. Food was very cheap. The place was very clean. Access to the upper floor is by stairs. The room had a balcony with a sea view.

Great location. The room is a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Hotels have 2 restaurants which are both good. (There're not much restaurants around within walking distance.)
