Breakfasts were freshly cooked and different every day. The location is great: the beach is just a short walk away. We stayed at the end of the season, so it was quiet and peaceful. There’s also a lovely path along the seafront, perfect for a walk or a morning run. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the cats on the property made our stay even more enjoyable. 🐾

This cute little cottage is located in such a great spot within walking distance of some fabulous beaches and a stones throw away from an amazing thermal hot springs. It is fully equipped with everything you need and has been finished with absolute care and consideration for the guests. We absolutely loved our stay here. And the hosts were super welcoming and helpful. The site is still being developed and landscaped so the outside space is not finished, but I'm sure when it is finally finished it will be so fantastic!

We had a very comfortable stay at the guest house in Cholpon-Ata. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, including a fridge, oven, toaster, and heating pad. Plates, cutlery, and all essentials were neatly arranged and in excellent condition. It felt very convenient and homely to cook and enjoy meals on our own. Highly recommend this place for travelers who appreciate a complete and well-maintained kitchen.

You could see that owner cared a lot, he made sure we understand everything and even contacted someone speaking English to talk to us. The place is a bit hard to find but if you use satellite views on google maps you will be able to figure out the road. The place is very new and clean.

I liked Rokh-Ordo, it is very beatiful, interesting and quiet place! Clean, with incredible Issyk Kul lake view! Also, I liked a park near the beach. Clean, beatiful, green with a lot of metallic yurtas and monuments. But, I did not like the beach and Cholpan Ota in general - a lot of garbage, expensive, horrible roads and traffic. The beach is not super clean and doesn't meet my expectations. If you want to see Issyk Kul, maybe it is better to travel somewhere else, especially if you have only 1-2 days to see this lake.

My husband and I have visited Cholpon Ata six times from November 2020 until July 2021. We loved our stay during winter and spring. Summertime is not advised for those who wish to avoid crowds on yen beach and in the city center. We were fortunate to stay at Zaton Guesthouse- owners enjoyed preparing hefty breakfast for guests, charming garden perfect for yoga and taichi. We loved its close proximity to town center and the beach. The little Zaton Lake behind it was a bonus- perfect for quiet morning walk.

The town is a bit spread out if you are there without a...

The town is a bit spread out if you are there without a vehicle. If you are not staying at a resort (and therefore need to get out for meals, etc.), just be aware that you may have to walk a distance to get to the center. There is a taxi stand in the center, near the historical museum, so that is a great resource for getting back at least! The best restaurant was Barashek Terrace - good service, English menu, varied food options and tasty food. Bonus is that it's well-covered so it's nice and cool and out of the sun. There is also a nice ice cream truck outside. The shashlik at U-Rybaka was very good (especially the chicken) and I'm sure the Torro burger truck is good, too (Torro burgers in Bishkek are my favourite!). I would recommend going down to the marina and going out on a boat trip. It is is 300 soms per person and about an hour long. It goes out into the lake so you get some great views and stops out so you can go for a dip! Very refreshing!

Cholpon-Ata has been a popular lakeside relax destination...

Cholpon-Ata has been a popular lakeside relax destination for over 50 years, but unfortunately had to go through a decay period following disintegration of USSR. Present day Cholpon-Ata is a rebuilding and rejuvenating community geared at budget-smart visitors catering good hospitality at a reasonable price. Lake Issyk-Kul features exceptional water with water cleanliness exceeding that of Adriatic Sea and Black Sea. Sandy beach line and mild, relatively dry climate ensure a soft relax, although much reinvestment is required to bring services back to the level anywhere close to that of USSR era.
