The room was spacious, clean, and featured a balcony overlooking the river, which made the atmosphere relaxing and refreshing. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always quick to assist whenever I needed anything. Breakfast was delicious, with a nice variety of dishes prepared with great care. Overall, it’s definitely a place I would love to return to

With Sook Village the owner Sam is creating something really unique just 2 km outside of Nong Khiaw. The single, spacious bungalows built analogue old traditional wooden houses are nestled within a wonderful garden, including olong tea, scent flowers and vegetables. All is surrounded by an amazing mountain scenary and the sound of a river floating by. The staff is wonderful, the beds are super comfortable, and with the available bicycles you can easiliy reach the Phathok Cave museum within 10 minutes. Alternative you can start the hike to Pha Mery Viewpoint right at Sook Village (1.5 h up). As the place just opened on the 10th of November 2025, bring some flexibility with you as some things are still in the formation phase. Still we loved it a lot. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay in this very new opened Hotel. The room was perfectly clean and fresh. The staff was super friendly and served breakfast directly in the balcony in front of the rooms. Thank you very much, we enjoyed our visit. We slept very well since the location is quiet

I couldn’t be happier about our stay. The rooms are new, clean and roomy and most importantly: you get perfect, unobstructed views of the mountains on the other side of the river. They also have a free shuttle to take you back to and from town whenever you like.

During December 2022 and January 2023, we traveled the entire Indochina Peninsula from north to south. We stayed overnight in give or take 30 hotels. I decided to write just a few reviews on the best ones. Mandala Ou Resort is one of those places to travel for. To come to a remote village in northern Laos and find great accommodations, delicious food, delicious wine, and very warm people... It's worth a lot. I admire the hard work that Nic, his wife and their team do! It's a beautiful place. If you get a chance to stay here, don't hesitate.
