Fabulous host and apartment. What a delight meeting Utirus. It's worth staying here just to meet him and his family. He has a genuine interest in his guests and will look after your every concern. We talked on all matter of subjects and I learnt a lot about Saint Lucia's history and customs. Great communication with Utirus in the lead up and very clear instructions on the ins and outs in the apartment on arrival. Easily the most affordable accommodation locally. The apartment has everything you need; fully self contained. Good air con, Netflix, comfy bed and pillows and a great shower. It's a 10 minute walk into the heart of Castries and a short walk to the large Massey supermarket.. Safe, interesting neighbourhood. Five minute drive to the Castries airport. But as always, the best establishments have the best owner/managers and here Utirus excels. Advice on what to do, good conversation and a top stay is guaranteed. Thanks for taking me to the airport and offering to do it for free.

The apartment was very well equipped, we took advantage of the washing machine (no detergent, though). Everything was very clean and in good condition. The 2 bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, are ideal for 2 couples or one family. The host was very friendly & helpful, she was very accommodating with our late arrival and early departure. She was also very responsive while communicating on whatsapp.

    If you want to get around to other islands and Gros Islet Street Party, make sure you negotiate the price for a round trip. Make SURE you emphasize round trip. Some taxi men are so money hungry and will give you a price of round trip, but then try and tell you they meant one way. DON'T let them do that. Get clear clarification for your round trip.

    Castries is a harsh city. Not violet.

    Castries is a harsh city. Not violet. But difficult to spend time in. It's not setup for tourists who are not in a resort or on a cruise. There are very few sit-down atmospheric restaurants and bars. It's a city for the locals and its a poor community. Everyone I met was very nice and friendly. They are wonderful people. But it's not what you might call 'charming'. The roads and traffic are a nightmare and a day here is enough. Rodney Bay is a much more vacation friendly place. I mostly enjoyed my stay here, but be prepared for confronting the results of colonial abuse and corruption. Frankly the locals are demonstrating a high degree of humility, love and forgiveness despite what our western ancestors have done to them, and are still doing. I learned something very important about western entitlement by staying here.

    Castries town centre is charming with a nice market and...

    Castries town centre is charming with a nice market and several excellent restaurants. People of St.Lucia are really friendly and always happy to help you out. There are plenty of shops stocking local and some international goods, especially the shops on-route to Rodney Bay. Choc beach near Castries was beautiful, clean & quiet with very calm sea waves. Excellent for swimming including children. We found the beach to be very quiet all day long with only a handful of people passing by, so ideal for sunbathing too. The Sunsets are magical.

    I enjoyed the Cacoa Chocolate Factory and the chocolate.

    I enjoyed the Cacoa Chocolate Factory and the chocolate. The mud bath; the water falls the botanical gardens and the Piton mountains. It’s mountainous which makes for very beautiful views of the island.

    I enjoyed Castries.

    I enjoyed Castries. Getting around is an adventure - coming from a place where we drive on the other side of the road. It's not difficult to adjust. The people, in general, are mostly friendly. Except for restaurants, no one takes larger bills and the banks close early. The food was great everywhere we went and it's a beautiful island! I'll certainly vacation here again!

The Castries Market is a must-visit, brimming with vibrant colors and local flavors. The warmth and friendliness of the locals truly stand out, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.     Loved our stay here. The flat was a good size and had all the amenities we needed to stay independently. Roland and his partner were amazing hosts, very friendly with tips and advice for getting around the island, giving us lifts into town when they were going and always on hand when we needed anything. Location is a little remote but a 10/15 minute bus to Castries where you can get around the rest of the island. Would recommend to anyone who wanted to do an independent trip to the island.

    Had a lovely stay here with no problems, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the location was great - not too far from town (about a 15 min walk from the centre, just down a very steep hill!) so good access to the bus system that can take you round the island. And the view of Castries from the balcony is breathtaking. Will definitely return and stay longer someday soon.

    The staff at the Bel Jou are lovely. They constantly go above and beyond and smile whilst doing it. The hotel is also relaxing and has a good selection of food options as well a number of events. Room was clean and even bigger than expected.
