It's a wonderful place with a warmly welcome; you feel very welcome but still you can keep your privacy as they know how to handle tourists. The owner is a very intelligent man with a lot of knowledge, and he speaks english very wwll so you can have very good conversations. We totally liked our stay.

We had the most beautiful experience at Leel's cottage. Leel and his family are wonderful, kind and genuine people who make your stay unforgettable. The room is beautifully decorated, you'll be amazed by Leel's craftsmanship. We enjoyed just sitting on the porch with the swinging chair and enjoying nature. If tranquility is what you are looking for, then this place is right for you. Leel is also a very knowledgeable, experienced and passionate safari guide. We had the best experience exploring the national park away from the beaten tracks. He pointed out so many animals which might have gone undiscovered for the untrained eye. Another highlight is the homemade food! Do not miss out on dinner! Leel's wife is a beautician, so you can get professional treatment there as well. I was very happy with my manicure. We left with a heavy heart as it felt we made wonderful friends.

We had a truly amazing stay at Amba Kola. The food was better than most restaurants and hospitality better than most hotels. The living space is comfortable, the area is calm and within a kilometer from the national park where you can see wild Elephants in their natural habitat.

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an...

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an interesting trip into real sri lankan life. Cafe's cake shops, restaurants etc - and banks/ATMs - in fact not much that you don't need. A 30mins drive to the beach going south and a 15 in drive to the national park for the elephants. To say nothing of the peacocks constantly gracing Illukawella's gardens.

The tranquility and peace of the house and grounds so near the town but far enough to feel a genuine feeling if being at one with nature. Meals, drinks by the pool and the general helpfulness of the staff all made staying a Illukawella a sheer delight. Having stayed in earlier years, before Illukawella was listed on Booking.com, the comfort and class has definitely reached another level. The elephant sancutary is not quite near enough the hear the herd at feeding or washing times but almost. they're a very short drive away.

It was a very pleasant stay for us. We had a really nice stay. The room was large, very clean, and came with a bathtub in the bathroom, which was perfect for mornings. The view of the lake from our room was beautiful and peaceful. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel had easy access to the safari park, which made our trip even more convenient. Vegetarian options at the buffet were limited However, the staff kindly prepared a few extra vegetarian dishes for us, which we really appreciated.

The hotel is in a very handy spot for safari trips and sits in a peaceful location with lovely lake views. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were polite, friendly, and always willing to help, which made the stay feel very welcoming. The buffet was also excellent.
