Amazing resort that is really entwined with nature. Not sure how it isn't more well known considering the value for money you get and the social mission the owner is on to improve livelihoods for local people in nearby villages. Whoever designed this place really has an eye for detail to allow you to experience luxury while still being immersed in the natural forest. We stayed in the balcony room and still have this amazing memory of sitting on the balcony (which is also equipped with a lovely ceiling fan, table and traditional chairs) during a rain storm and seeing the mist roll through the valley while listening to the sounds of the forest awoken by the rain. It was magical. The rooms are very clean and well maintained and I didn't see any critters which was hard to believe considering how close to the forest you are. There is a private track leading to a peaceful swimming hole in the nearby river which we had all to ourselves. Just me mindful of leeches if it's been raining. In regards to the food, we ordered a traditional rice and curry that wasn't actually on the menu but it was delicious. If you're Lankan or love spice, maybe just ask for local-level hot otherwise they will serve it mild. The service overall is very kind and attentive, proud to see this in Sri Lanka. Next time we will stay in the private villas as they look stunning with their private pools along with mini rivers running adjacent to the room. The magnificent Arberdeen waterfall is also a short tuk tuk drive away. I was a little worried in one review saying the place smelled overwhelming of Naphthalene but I didn't smell anything so maybe they changed something.

The location is simply stunning. Views from the terrace, the pool and the room are incredible regardless of weather. Pool is in a garden setting where the tea bushes meet to edge of the garden. Food good and not unreasonable. Staff very attentive rooms simple and old world charm but all in keeping with the hotels age.

Its one of the best places i stayes in sri lanka . Too quiet . Comfortable . And the staff were amazing and patient . Helpful . I forget to ask their names but i remember mohamed was amazing with everything . The driver he picked me up from the town and droped me off while waiting me to make sure everything was good . The hotel in middle of nature . But had everything needed . Restaurant is very good . Wifi signal very good all around the hotel . They alao arrange adventure tours which are famous in kitulgala .

What a seriously magical place! Coming from busy Colombo and finally breathing again in the middle of those giantic green mountains. The little house we were living in was the ideal place to calm down, to relax and to reconnect with the beauty of nature. No pool? No problem! The fresh water stream with crystal clear and cooling water (which is 1min by feet far of the accommodation) is way better than every pool we could have asked for. With little curious fishes inside, that will give you a normally expensive paid treatment. In the area are also waterfalls and plenty of possibility to hike. But come with a scooter or anything, otherwise you will depending on tuk tik, which is neither a problem, as there are always plenty of them waiting to bring you anywhere. But what we really loved the most is the beautiful manager, that became within 2 days like a friend. A young well english speaking and always caring, lady that lives with her family over there. As I was sick when I arrived she prepared even an ayurvedic treatment for me, a hot inhalation with herbs of the property. Another day she joined us for a little exploration and acted as our personal photographer. We had so much fun! And we seriously gonna miss her and her amazing property. Her mom is the cooking chef and performs every breakfast and dinner some magic in the kitchen. They also cared for some special requests and I enjoyed all the food they served us sooooo much! I felt safe as a female solo traveller. The view is gorgeous up there! The room with the balcony is amazing. It’s really clean and the man working there makes sure you have a comfortable stay. You shouldn’t mind walking a steep path for around 10min to get to the house.

The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what...

The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what you like. Personally coming from England I didn’t need to see Nuwara Elyia (little England), little point when I live in England! I enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and in a peaceful environment before hitting the city of Kandy.
