One of the best places I've stayed. Excellent territory, arrangement, sauna, hot tub. Everything you need for a great party in a small company of friends! Great hosts who will help you with anything. The owner and his daughter were very welcoming. They had us mark on a world map where we traveled from. Such a great family owned hotel!!! The restaurant was amazing as well. Breakfast was beautiful and lunch was delicious as well! We would highly recommend staying here!

Unfortunately Jelgava was completely destroyed at the end of WW2. Nothing but 5 or 6 historical buildings left. The city is all soviet built soulless block houses. Very sad and not too interesting for visiting.

Interesting castle close to the hotel with good water...

Interesting castle close to the hotel with good water activities offered on the river. Did not use public transport but had a hire car. The streets in general were well maintained and well signposted so that getting around Jelgava by car was easy.

I adored the city.

I adored the city. It is a nice mixture of historical sights and nature. The riverside and the island are wonderful and it is really nice to walk in the streets. We came by car and there were a lot of parking places. If you don't wanna walk too much, there are plenty of electric scooters too.

I couldn't say that Jelgava has a lot of attractions (...

I couldn't say that Jelgava has a lot of attractions (especially in winter during Covid, hehe), but for a short visit it was pleasant and entertaining. Ice sculptures served as a main attraction with general city illumination nicely adding to it, while a great steak served in PARKS restaurant did well to make for a complete evening.

The city lies in the valley of several rivers, the largest of which is the Lelupa. On a large island within the city limits, there's a reserve with a large herd of free-roaming Polish horses. It's a place with an interesting history, also linked to Polish history, with several monuments and museums.

The viewing platform and museum rooms in the former Trinity Church are a must-see. The Old Town Houses Museum is professionally presented with digital and interactive exhibits. The island park is also very beautiful in the evening. Getting around by car is absolutely no problem; there is plenty of parking available.

The best service I received while traveling through Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The host assisted me with everything: laundry, hot water, and finding places to eat. Jelgava is a hidden gem. The town has a homemade candy factory and a pine cone factory. You should visit — this hostel is easy to locate near the railway station. I also visited the Rundāles Palace, Jelgava Palace, and the watchtower where I spot the wild horses.

We arrived after midnight and reception was closed but we easy finned keys from our room and bill. In the room was clean and nice soft bed. We had our dogs with us and there is enough place to walk with dogs. Very cosy place! Near by hotel almost finished for use fast charging station. Too bad we needed to leave very early because we had ferry in Tallinn at 14.00. I would like to stay longer in this beautiful place.
