Jasmin and Sebastian were lovely hosts and made our stay at Casa Cactus in Buenavista unforgettable. Everything is to like about Casa Cactus, from the carefully decorated room, to the food that is creative, delicious and fresh, to the garden with beautiful plants, a pool to refresh and attentive staff. To make the most of Casa Cactus I recommend having your own car (although the hosts can help with arranging a taxi). The place is perfect if you are looking to relax, lay back and enjoy nature, but also be able to get to more lively places like Bacalar which is 20-30 mins by car. Jasmin and Sebastian made everything to ensure our stay would be perfect and gave us great advice on things to do and visit to get a real authentic experience. (They suggested a nearby spot for a beach day on the lagoon. The spot was secluded, and felt very intimate and private, with the jungle in the background, it was a bless compared to the crowds in Bacalar. Furthermore Buenavista is a perfect spot to visit Bacalar, but also other attractions nearby like Mahahual, a town on the Caribbean side, the ruins of Chacchoben or doing guided jungle tour.) Be aware there's not much choice for eating out in Buenavista, but you won't need it with the delicious food prepared by Jasmin. We preferred having dinner at Casa Cactus because of how good it was. Me and my girlfriend had the best stay here and would definitely recommend it.

Family who looking after property was so so welcoming. Lady showed all amenities, where to get fresh artisan bred( can beat fresh baked bread). Local people are very friendly. Place its a gem. Views to die for. Lake to swim and so peaceful. Colourful birds and beautiful nature sounds. Lady/ family who looks after property so welcoming and friendly made feel very comfortable and and without her would be not the same. Big thank you to them .

I had such an amazing NYE at Aldea Elvira! The beds are located in lovely little houses and very convenient with light, fans, electricity and also blankets as nights can be chilly sometimes. Ezequiel Joel and Sem were so very welcoming and helpful everytime and give this place a real feel-like-home feeling. Beautiful setting, and access to a private Laguna spot with chill atmosphere. Easily accessible walking or by bike (10mn) that can be borrowed for free. Amazing sunrise if you go there early. This spot was the most beautiful, peaceful and wild I’ve seen from the Laguna. It’s also really easy to meet and mingle with people, and different places around the garden to chill. Lots of activities to chose from and a nice restaurant too. I came renting a scooter from Bacalar but the road is the freeway so better come by car or colectivo. I actually extended my stay as I liked it so much. Thank you so much guys, highly recommending !

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The yoga class in the morning was amazing, really you should try it! I also book a massage which was wonderful, done in my room. The food was also pretty good as well as the breakfast. You have access to the lake and have the possibility to get a kayak which is also included in your stay. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This place reminded me of a meditation retreat i used to go to called vipassana in California. The beauty of the water is impressive. the staff are kind and friendly. The place has a peaceful vibe to it. I can tell they have paid a lot of attention to small details to make this place look beautiful. It is truly quiet, which is a gem to me where most places are playing loud music.

Beautiful villa in a lovely location! The staff is very sweet and helpful. We could swim in the lake on a private place. We where just with 2 people but we can imagine it would be lovely to come with a few more people and enjoy the jacuzzi a good bbq. It’s soooo nice!

Totally amazing place! A paradise in the jungle with pure amazing lagoon nearby. Cuarto Maracuyá felt really like a home, sanctuary and the best place to rest with all the comfort and care needed for recovering from travellers tiredness. The nature around is very cosy and refreshing 💓 The host is very helpful and kind. Looking forward to come back 🤩

The Cabana is beautifully located directly at the lake. The pictures in the listing are very true. The cabana is well equipped for self catering (including a washing machine). We did not miss anything. The use of kayaks were complimentary. We spend a lot of time on the lake and enjoyed the pure nature. Communication was quick and responsive. We definitely can recommend this place.
