Alexandra is a beautiful place well known for beautiful winery around the district Places to go to are not far to travel You can go to Clyde.Queenstown . Wanaka. Cromwell all between 15 minutes to hour and half lovely scenery 😀there is a lot of history up and round Cromwell and the gold mines

There is a big clock on the hilltop.

There is a big clock on the hilltop. A big playground in the city centre. An information centre with a museum and a small gallery in the same building. We could walk along the river in the bush. Grocery shopping was easy as there are two major supermarkets, New World and Woolworths. Fast food was easy to find. Cafes offer good-tasting coffee. There is plenty of free parking in the town centre, from where we could walk almost anywhere around the town. Alexandra is a small town for a visit, where you want to unwind in a laid-back setting. It is also close to Cromwell and Roxburgh, where you can go for cherry picking in the summer.

Nothing to not like about Central Otago, Biking is superb...

Nothing to not like about Central Otago, Biking is superb with Gold Trails, Dunstan Trail and Rail Trail all at your fingertips. Great cafe and restaurants in Clyde such as The Post Office and Olivers and The Court House in Alexandra.

Alex is a great central place that you can get to all the...

Alex is a great central place that you can get to all the good spots from. Much better than staying in Queenstown with all the traffic and planes going overhead. Accomm a bit more reasonably priced too

Great cabin - if a bit small.

Great cabin - if a bit small. Great view of mountain and cows. Beautiful breakfast and friendly hosts. Ate at Mexican restaraunt (seemed like the only one open). Good food and ambience. Would go back again.

I was there for a golf tournament.

I was there for a golf tournament. Absolutely awesome place to base yourself and friends. Has an amazing sports complex. I always enjoy a soak at the local pool. Lots of good restaurants to choose from. Including the RSA friendly and brilliant restaurant and atmosphere. Make time to browse around the shops

Hawkdun Rise is located on the outskirts of Alexandra a quaint village with a beautiful river running through the middle. however, Suzanne and John directed us to the historical village of Clyde and later Cromwell enroute to Queenstown. These villages are a must see with excellent restaurants, bars and history aplenty.

The owners were very welcoming, came and explained how everything worked and brought us the cutest breakfast basket with everything we needed for the morning. Beautiful scenery and views all around, very close to Alexandra town. Perfect stay for sitting my driving test there early in the morning.

The location was central to Alexandra shopping centre (5km) but it felt like you were is a quiet relaxed space. The grounds were full of trees, fruit trees which the host said to help ourselves to. The Chalet was very quiet, comfortable, clean and the kitchen well equipped
