The hosts and the place are extraordinary. We read the reviews and arrived with quite high expectations. But Julie and Nick and this amazing lodge exceeded them. They go the extra mile for their guests and that's an understatement. The lodge is a class of its own and so are the rooms. Comfy bed, super clean ... and the rest you need to experience for yourselves. We will be back - hopefully soon.

Couldn't have been any better. Delphine and family were excellent hosts. Lots of little extras that make all the difference whilst making sure the basics are done properly. A brilliant start to our travels around the north island. We would definitely stay again!

Lovely balcony, tucked amongst the trees. Easy walk to the river trail, as well as Plough and Feather and the stone store. Shared kitchen spacious with great DIY breakfast.

Wow, this has been a great experience! The Colonial House Motel is a lovely place, a beautiful garden, nice rooms, filled with hospitality. Owner Mark personally showed us our room, making us feel welcome from the very first second on. The room is equipped with everything an (overseas) tourist needs. In our room there was even a travel adapter power plug. Laundry service is available complete with clothes airers. When we arrived, Mark was working in the garden. Upon arrival he said we came on a good time: time also for a short break from gardening. This was another way we felt very welcome. The owners not just own this place, they live it. They live hospitality. Thanks very much, Mark and Paula. I would highly recommend the Colonial House Motel for anyone travelling in the Kerikeri and Bay of Islands area.
