I had an incredible, relaxing stay at Tiki Lodge. I loved all the little touches from the tropical surf-inspired decor to the organic hand soap in the bathrooms (presented with a dehydrated orange peel). It was such an honour to be one of the first guests here (the place is spotless). My bed, the soft blue blanket, and all four pillows were super comfortable and the room has air conditioning and a fan. There is a pool (which changes lights at night) and you’re surrounded by palm trees with an all round zen feeling. Solo female travelers will appreciate that it’s on the main street just minutes walking from the beach and all the tour operators that organise trips to Coiba (they can also help you arrange tours). Breakfast is included and yummy with three available choices. This was one of those rare places that felt like home. Thank you so much everyone. I know where I’ll be staying whenever I next find myself in Santa Catalina.

Great location, great restaurant and pool, great staff. It is totally worthy! The rooms are spacious and clean, and it’s nice to chill in the amaca with the geckos and the iguanas. The staff is particularly friendly - ask them for tips and to book with a local tour to visit Coiba, you won’t regret it! There’s also a great selection of surfboards to get for free to try at the Playa el Estero.

I loved everything about my stay. My room was huge! It was clean, had 2 beds, and a porch with a hammock steps away from the pool. I was surprised that the pool was available 24hrs because most hotels close theirs between 8-10pm. I had ac in my room which came in handy. The food was pretty good and my favorite were the pancake breakfast and the fish sandwich. The place was very calm and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Anything I needed, they accommodated. They even help you book excursions so you make the most of your trip. I loved my stay, honestly.

Shirley was amazing, she is so kind and caring it is like being with a family member. The rooms are amazing and each one is unique and special. The beds are insanely comfy, I loved the element of the tiny kitchen in the room, it had everything you could need in it. This place is great whether you want to stay short or long term. My stay was extended and Shirley was extremely accommodating. If you are a working nomad this place is definitely a great option for you 👌

Funky surfer world with good restaurants.

Funky surfer world with good restaurants. Feels like real Panama. Pleasant and relaxing except for the last 20k driving on the rough gravel road under heavy construction (Feb 2025). Once finished it will be great. Difficult drive at dusk and after dark with people on horseback. No gas station in town so be sure to fill up when on Hwy 5 in Sona or at the one Delta station about 1/2 way to Santa Catalina.

Santa Catalina is a lovely little village.

Santa Catalina is a lovely little village. The atmosphere is relaxing, people are friendly and it’s a nice place to hang out. The snorkeling and diving at Coiba island are impressive and gorgeous. A definite must!!

Santa Catalina is an interesting place.

Santa Catalina is an interesting place. If I were younger and a surfer, it might be awesome. At this stage it feels like it is still the frontier, the “wild west” of Panama. It is obviously super popular with the crunchy backpacker and surfer crowd, and judging by the development taking place (golf course down the road), it will soon be popular with the expats and gringos as well.

Good place to have a day trip to Coiba, we did an excellent snorkelling tour with Watching Dolphins. Playa Estero is very pleasant for a lazy afternoon ( but better with a car!). Some pleasant restaurants in the village : We liked lodge bar and restaurant, very good and friendly. Very disappointed by Los Penguinos, beautiful view and nice for a drink, but very very very long service. There is an ATM near the Pharmacia and supermarket.

I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs.

I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs. It’s clearly a place I enjoy. I’m there for the diving. If you go there to dive you should visit Isla Coiba … it’s world class. Of course you also have surfing, kayaking, fishing, walking on the beach or just relaxing at your hotel pool. Highly recommend getting out and enjoying one of the many restaurants. I also really like the people, who I find friendly and hard working. Hangout by the beach at sunset and you’ll find locals & tourist playing volleyball or just sitting over a cold beer enjoying the view.

Santa Catalina is quiet surf town.

Santa Catalina is quiet surf town. During the day, most of the restaurants were closed. There are two beaches, the nicer one is Estero beach, which is good place to surf, even for the beginners. You can do snorkling trips, diving, surf or kayaking to the Santa Catalina island, where the beach was great and water clear.

Fantastic location, right on the beach. We had one of the little huts at the end and that was just perfect. Very clean, it felt very new and fresh and comfortable. And a very comfortable shower with hot water! Lots of surfboards available for rent, many sun beds, nice restaurant onsite with good food. I truly don’t understand why this place isn’t rated higher, we absolutely loved it and wished we could stay longer.

The rooms are very clean and neatly decorated. Clean and spacious communal kitchen as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great, some cute cafés and restaurants nearby, plus Santa Catalina beach where coiba expeditions start. Estero beach is a 20 minute walking distance

The room we had is the very best in the hotel and is really really well designed. The rest is occupied by the backpackers mostly. Barbuda is the newest hotel in the Santa Catalina, is fresh and nicely looking. Restaurant delivers good quality food although the breakfast is limited choice.
