FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.

A wonderful City with beautiful architecture around every corner. A comprehensive network of very frequent buses, trams and suburban trains makes getting around cheap and easy. Good train links to other Polish cities too eg Warsaw just over 2 hours away. Also there are some excellent beaches 15 minutes from the city by tram. Museums, Churches, Cathedrals, this city has it all.

I recomend to take a tour guide, free walking tour suggest really amazing tours. St. Bridget church with amber altar must be seen, also westerplatte if you are interesting in WWII history (there is better to go by taxi). If you have extra day - visit Sopot - its only 15-20 minutes from Gdańsk by train.

It was a very beautiful place with a great mix of old history and modern history. I missed a few of the museums because 3 days was not enough time. I did a day walking between towns by the lakes and through woods - lovely undulating hills not too steep and easy to get to by public transport.

Sobre a cidade: Linda Sobre a estadia

Sobre a cidade: Linda Sobre a estadia Translated by Google to English so that more people can learn about it. Problems Points 1 and 2 were two nightmares for me and my wife that ruined our stay. I've traveled to 3 continents and I've never seen anything like this. 1) Key collection point: More than 1 hour and 15 minutes to find. 2) Apartment location 2-1) On the booking: 8 Szafarnia, Long Gardens, Gdansk, Poland, 80-755 2-2) In your instructions received on the day of arrival at 1:40 PM: Gdańsk, Szafarnia Street, 8/10/B. 2-3) Where I am: Gdańsk, Szafarnia Street, 8=Street door number; 3rd=floor; 10=interior door; B=2nd interior door. Simply put, it should be: Rua Szafarnia, Nr.8/3ºesq/porta.10/porta B.

Very beautiful place with baroque and Gothic style buildings. Characteristic of Gdańsk are the colorful houses in the center and around the river. The marina is also very beautiful. Staying in the center you don't need transportation, you go everywhere on foot

The location: The world war 2 museum is one of my favourite buildings, just to look at, and was about a 2 minute walk. 5 minute walk to the train station (which is the best and cheapest way to get to Sopot and Gdynia). 10 minute walk to the old town. The apartment was fully equipped (iron and small board, hairdryer, fridge, washing machine etc.) Plenty of electric sockets.

Very clean, quiet and orderly. Facilities are kept top notch and people working there are overly welcoming. Every hotel owner (especially those with 4 or 5 star ratings) should visit and see how a 3 star hotel beats them. By far one of the best if not the best hotel I have been to so far.

The hotel is located on the best possible place in the Old town. Many good restaurants are located just under the hotel at the river side. The SPA zone is nice and clean, there is a warm swimming pool for kids (34C) and a warm jacuzzi (36C).
