Oh WOW. Just wow. Comfy bed, beautiful little cottage built by the owner and her husband with their own two hands, perched on the side of a mountain with incredible views, delicious breakfast delivered in a hamper and eaten outside listening to the water running in the river below and the birds singing. Fonte d'Amandos offers rooms in the very centre of Arganil. All rooms have got private bathrooms, ours had a walk-in shower. We stayed in the family room, which has two levels, so our son had a little privacy. The place is air-conditioned and cleaned regularly. The beds are very comfortable, and there are also desks and space to hang clothes. The staff of Fonte d'Amandos is charming and always helpful. Every morning you can have breakfast at the bakery, which serves a good variety of rolls and cakes, both sweet and savoury. Many local people come for a coffee, and to buy bread there. There is parking nearby. We have stayed there before, and we will certainly come back.

This place is dream. I don't even know what to write, because if I only could, I would move there and spend the rest of my life there. It's pure magic. The surrounding is peaceful and beautiful, you can hear only goats and cicadas there. Rooms are located in old building, which is renovated with respect to its historical look (raw stone on part of the wall inside - wow). It's mix of luxurious hotel and homely summer house in the countryside. Last, but for sure not least - the owner of the place. Amazing guy with open mind and heart - you can really feel that the place is created with true passion to hosting people, sharing stories and showing beauty of portugese countryside. It was real pleasure to stay there and hopefully I will have a chance to be back there.
