Gothenburg is a very nice travel destination for families! We loved Alfons Åbergs Kulturhus, which is an interactive museum (for kids under 7, I would say). In Universeum, there are cool science exhibits, an aquarium and a terrarium, a rainforest to explore, and much more (all ages!). The botanical garden is perfect for picnics and strolls. There are many well-maintained playgrounds throughout the city. You can also take a boat ride through the canals or along the coast. It depends on your expactations.
It depends on your expactations. It is a big busy city and it feels just like that. The trams and busses are always there. There are a lot of shops but is that really how you want to spend your time all of the time? When i was there the renovations where always there on every corner of the street. The best thing was the boat tour around the islands. I warmly recommend it. Take away food is very convenient and saves money. City center offers nice architecture, althought nothing spectacular.
