The owner was really responsive and helpful, He came to welcome us really quickly despite of changing our arrival time and He helped me arrange some sweets for birthday breakfast. It is bicycle friendly place with safe Bicycle storage. Very nice and clean place with amazing terrace where we could chill after ariival.

This is actually a review for the Hotel Malovec-same owner, but they moved me over to the hotel when I checked in; it’s about a 3-minute walk down the street. Absolutely lovely, comfortable room, very clean, lovely bathroom, great water pressure in the shower. The included breakfast was completely out of this world. So if you’re reading this, and trying to decide between Guesthouse Risnik and Hotel Malovec, I can’t speak to the guesthouse, but knowing what I know now I would absolutely spend the 25 extra euros to stay at Malovec. Even for the breakfast alone.

Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between...

Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between Ljubljana and Koper. It is very close to both Lipica and to skočjanske Jame. These caves are my favourites in Slovenia, although not to be visited if you have a problem walking.. The park surrounding the caves is very beautiful too. Divača itself is quiet, but has a Cinema museum, which is popular with those interested in early silent films. There area few trains three each day, and also a bus service during the week. Not at the weekend, however, as I found to my cost on another occasion when I drove a friend's car home for her - and then found there were no buses on Saturdays by which to travel back to the coast!, and the next train would have kept me late for my meeting. Luckily, there were others around to heading the same way. While Skočjam and Lipica are open all year, there are also smaller caves in the area which are open only in the tourist season. To drive there from the coast takes about 30 minutes, and about the same driving time will take you to Postojna and the more famous caves there, or to Predjamskigrad, an amazing Castle , most of which is inside the mountain, hence its name - the castle in front of the cave.

Interesting historical town, railway connection between Vienna and Trieste. Quiet, clean town. There are at least 3 restaurants. Ideal starting point for trips around the area - Slovenian Karst. Škocjan Caves 6 km away. Near the town of Divača interesting Divaška Cave and Vilenica Cave. Riznik area.

Small, safe and quiet town.

Small, safe and quiet town. Local transport practically does not work and there is no connection to the Skočjan Caves, which are very close. On Sundays, you cannot shop in local shops, not even in the supermarket. In the season, there is a daily railway connection with Pula, Croatia, i.e. with the Istrian peninsula.

A charming little town, with well-kept tenement houses in the old town. The Romanesque church is worth seeing. For such a small town, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. While passing through, you can stop for an overnight stay or a drink at a restaurant overlooking the valley below.

Perfect location to visit Skocjanske Jame, only a few minutes away by car. The room was quite big. We booked one family room but there were two seperated bedrooms which share one entrance, so it was safe and comfort at the same time to stay with children. We arrived late and could eat in the restaurant of the hotel for the cheap price. It was good because it's a small village and there're no other restaurants, no shops in the near.

There were actually 2 bedrooms, and the one we used was really big with a nice armoire for storing our things. There was a secure garage for us to store our bicycles. The buffet breakfast was good with many options. The staff were very accommodating and we enjoyed a happy hour on the patio in front of the hotel. The attached restaurant has really good food, too. The hotel is convenient to the caves, which is nice.

Hotel Malovec is very clean and comfortable and our room was exactly as shown on the internet. We also had a large undercover balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the bus station and 45 minutes walk from Škocjan caves. We highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Divača or the Škocjan caves.

The hostel is located in historical house 3 min walk from the caves and forest trail. Very welcoming and lovely host Paula drived me to the nearest shop in Divaca when I had arrived. She also drived me to the train station on my last day. I really enjoyed my stay there
