Great hotel with a special eye for details, such as the fruits and juices that are available throughout the day. Hotel is calm, quite small and 10min from the centre by walk which offers a really relaxing experience. Staff is lovely, they offered our room 3 hours before the check in and even called our taxi driver on the way to the airport when we had forgotten something in the room!

FAQs about hotels in Chiang Mai

The Rose of the North

Located among Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystic capital of the North. Offering more than 300 temples, it is considered one of the most important cultural centres in the country.

Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still keeps a relaxed and laidback feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.

This reputation is partly due to its proximity to mountains and lush green areas, like Doi Suthep Mountain and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 60 km away and comprises Thailand’s highest mountain.

Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city centre are a popular choice, offering a more picturesque experience, with its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.

The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Rd hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.

Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss 'The Rose of the North' deals on Booking.com!

I like SE Asia as my destination choice of travel and, simply love Chang Mai. Generally I tend to visit during the end of the peak season rather than the beginning of it. In my view it also gives a fair chance to speak with other world wide travellers, pick up tips and suggestions for other places of interest.

Chiang Mai was very beautiful, a relaxed atmosphere and we always felt extremely safe, even late at night. It’s not overflowing with activities but if you are content in exploring the many markets and backstreets, the great cooking classes and of course visiting the amazing elephants, Chiang Mai could be for you! Getting around was so easy, we did find that calling a car on the local app was a lot cheaper than the taxis or the Tuk Tuks. Street food is amazing and so cheap.. just look to see where the locals are eating and you can’t go wrong!,

White Temple in chiangrai (Wat Rong Khun) – Majestic, worth visiting. Fee: ~100 baht. Botanical Garden – Very interesting, entrance 150 baht, seems worthwhile. Yin Yong Garden – Overrated, entrance 150 baht, probably not worth it. Hmong Tribe Visit – Interesting cultural experience, free or minimal cost if you wish to enter the garden - but from outside it is possible to view and take photos Karen Long Neck Village – Expensive for what you get, entrance 300 baht, not justified.

We traveled around Thailand for 3 weeks.

We traveled around Thailand for 3 weeks. In Chiang Mai for a week and it was by far our favorite. The people are truly friendly and happy. There is so much to do here Temples, night markets, shopping, massages, fantastic food, found a speakeasy the White Rabbit and a bar called Mars bar, saw how silk is made at Thai Silk Village, stayed at Chi Lai Orchard elephant sanctuary, a must do. My daughter is vegan and we had no problem finding delicious meals for her. We got Sak Yants from an Ajarn, using Where the Sidewalk Ends for travel and translation. It is so reasonable here but quality is not compermised. I would highly recommend staying at Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts Hotel. If I didn't live halfway around the world I would going to Chiang Mai annually.

The 6 dorm room is very spacious and clean. The ensuite bathroom was very comfortable and clean. the staff is the best part of the hostel, particularly Ney that gave me many advices about available tours and close by tourist attractions. The position is perfect, 100m away from the old city. In few minutes you can reach walking most of the old city area, so it's a perfect location if you want to explore the old town by feet or if you are willing to rent a scooter for the day but move by feet or take taxis during the night.

We really enjoyed our stay in Villa 1 for two weeks in this boutique hotel. It's in the Old City and, therefore, close to everything (the Sunday night market is just around the corner). P and Pan are excellent hosts and will go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. Breakfasts are delicious - Thai, fruit, eggs, sausage, toast and croissants, and the coffee is very good. Dinner is offered on request. What I liked most were the personal touches P and Pran bring to their hotel. We'll return for sure!

Beautiful building with lots of great terracotta sculptures, etc. The room was really comfortable and had a great balcony overlooking lots of trees. The staff were brilliant and helped us with trips, suggestions for eating, etc. There is street food nearby on the canal which is some of the best we have had - go to the place where they put tables where the market is during the day. Easy walking to all the main old city sights. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We had to find a place in Chiang Mai for 2 additional days and were lucky to find this hotel. Immaculately clean, well appointed, and in a quiet location. The staff was amazing as well. It's a bit further out from the Old City than other choices, but was by far the best accommodation in our 2 weeks in Chiang Mai.
