FAQs about hotels in Taipei

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.

Taibei is a vibrant Asian city, full of Chinese culture,...

Taibei is a vibrant Asian city, full of Chinese culture, amazing food, and a growing selection of artisanal bars. The many NIGHT MARKETS are such a special feature of the city, and are not to be missed. Easy public transportation and access to taxis everywhere. Choose carefully the time of year you go to Taibei: the summer is brutally hot, but end-October / early-November has PERFECT weather...not cold, not hot, and not overly raining. Whatever you do, DO NOT MISS going to the Palace Museum which contains the very best artifacts from the imperial "Forbidden City" in Beijing which were brought to Taiwan in 1949!

I really enjoyed my trip to Taipei!

I really enjoyed my trip to Taipei! The transportation system is very easy to navigate and takes you to many beautiful places around Taiwan, which makes it very convenient for travelers. We visited during the last week of October for Pride Month, and the weather was nice, perfect for exploring the city. Overall, a wonderful experience!

A lovely city full of chinese history and without being too expensive or scary. Excellent markets, museums, cultural parks, art galleries and shopping. Public transport is fantastic, including to/from the airport - we never needed a taxi from arrival to departure.

Loved the big street trees providing greenery and shade.

Loved the big street trees providing greenery and shade. The parks were great and really enjoyed seeing the Tai Chi people. The side streets were really interesting to explore. Taipei 101 was fascinating to go up in the elevator and see the big ball that controls the swaying in winds and earthquakes. Trains and buses were easy to use.

Taipei is a great city to visit.

Taipei is a great city to visit. We had the misfortune of rain every day, but that did not deter us (or the thousands of visitors and locals) from exploring the city. Taipei, and Taiwan in general, is more costly than we expected, but not overly so. Food is plentiful, trains are reliable, efficient, and convenient, buses are reliable in Taipei but frustratingly unreliable further south, and all buses are old and shake and rattle noisily. We ate most of our meals at night markets and local traditional small restaurants. These are 30% to 50% the cost of meals in more western style restsurants, and are at least as tasty. They also afford visitors the opportunity to immerse into local culture. The locals are kind, humble, and welcoming to everyone. They willingly help visitors which makes travel there really pleasant. Taipei has some peaceful relaxing parks and a wide array of sights and attractions. Just please avoid AirNZ like a plague! Use any other airline, there are dozens to choose from. I recommend Eva Air.

Taipei - A city that quietly touches your heart

Taipei - A city that quietly touches your heart I visited Taipei for a short 3-day trip, and even though it was a quick visit, this city left a deep mark on me. The people here are incredibly kind and polite, even small gestures like greetings, smiles, or the way they help you find your way just warm your heart. The city itself feels peaceful and organized. Whether it’s walking through quiet alleys, exploring temples like Longshan, or watching the rain while sipping bubble tea, there’s a calmness that stays with you. I didn’t come with anyone, but somehow never felt alone here. Transportation is super convenient with the MRT, everything feels clean and safe, and I deeply appreciated the culture and how respectful and genuine everyone is. Leaving Taipei made me surprisingly emotional, it’s one of those places that feels gentle, kind, and unforgettable in its own quiet way.

Dandy Hotel - Tianjin Branch was a great place to stay during our time in Taipei. The location was great, and very nearby to the subway station. The breakfast was so delicious and changed everyday offering local foods. The best part however, was the staff. Specifically Kim was an absolute pleasure and helped us so much during our stay. She went above and beyond with her recommendations, instructions and kindness. Everything was great, but if nothing else we would recommend staying here just for Kim!

Location was a bit off the main road, park views are lovely and the vibe is surprisingly calm and relaxing considering how central it is! Great access to a MRT train station - easy to get to Taipei 101 and east/west through the city. Room was gorgeous, the enormous tub was an excellent surprise and we slept extremely well on the bed. Felt absolutely enormous after hotel rooms in Europe 😆 The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Big rooms, perfect for families. We had plenty of space and the hotel provided us with a crib and a baby bathtub. The staff were very nice. Special mention to Allen, who went out of his way with recommendations. He was very welcoming and proactive, made our stay even nicer. The neighborhood is great, so many food options around. Also Dahu Park close by, and you can even do some proper hikes walking-distance from the hotel.
