We walked from the town to the old cemetery to see Wild Bill and Calamity Jane’s graves. It’s a long uphill walk with lots of stars Better to drive up to it and leave the car just outside. Only their bus can take passengers into the graveyard (for a fee of course). Otherwise, you’ll have to walk to see the it. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane’s graves are an easy walk to get to.

So much history! A little pricey. Lots to do. Bordello tour was super interesting. Cemetary where Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickock rest was beautiful! Check out the view from the flag post. Bar where Wild Bill was shot was interesting to see. The Gem was about the only pave that had good food at reasonable prices. Upstairs... get a table by the window looking out on to main street. Summer months they have outdoor free concerts. We happened to be there for a Fleetwood Mac tribute band...alot of fun! For a romantic hotel try the 1890 Inn.

Deadwood has the night life, travel to a lot of scenic, and historical places, are about an hour or so drive, and closer. great steak house in the basement of the Franklin called Legends, our favorite place is Mavrick's, at the Gold Dust, all around good food with decent pricing. One of the better things is you can walk-to most all locations, and do visit Mr. Wu's, we just love that place.

In all fairness, we didn't have time for museums, but I envisioned the town as being more 'historic' in nature. Most of what we saw was basically just T-shirt sales and casinos in old buildings. Still charming though.

Cool Western town reenactment was fun and tons of places to eat and places to shop makes for a really good day trip. Most hotels are an easy walk to the downtown area but if you don’t wanna walk, they have trolleys that are cheap for only two dollars.

I, like many people who travel to Deadwood, came for the history. The historic beauty of the hotel is a treasure! Furthermore, our room was VERY historic, retaining most of the original fixtures of the room. As a history buff, it was like dying and going to heaven! The Wild Bill Saloon on the original site of the Old Saloon Number 10 was an excellent marching experience. If you're there for history, don't miss these two gems of Deadwood.

An old school hotel that has been decently maintained by the current owner/staff. Reasonable sound proofing to avoid the motorcycle/car traffic on what is the main route to Lead, SD. While we did not go to the restaurant, it appeared to be an orderly, clean local place that served decently priced fare. Would recommend for those that are coming to the area for DUNE work in Lead, SD for brief or week long stays.
