Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.

Lovely quiet country village.

Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Peaceful, relaxed and lovely. Great architecture in town and amazing rock formations and plants on the outskirts. It just has so much interesting facets.

Lot's a quirky spots to visit, some great food, and perfect for walks and biking. Diesel and creme was a hit, food was great. Karoo hotel is great spot too for a dinner or to watch some sport. Ronnie's Sex Shop can only be believed once seen! We didn't stay long, but I'm not sure how much there was for kids to do in the area.

I've known Barrydale for decades and it has mostly retained its quaintness and country charm. A lively little town with interesting shops and restaurants, close to places like Warmwaterberg (hot spring) and a good stop-over between George and Cape Town.

The White House was absolutely a golden choice in Barrydale! Lovely Nicola welcomed us with open arms and offered us a lovely room with terrace. Loved all the details at this place! Breakfast was prepared in the evening for us to take and enjoy as we pleased the next morning. Nicola even made a reservation at a restaurant just a stone's throw away and it turned out to be excellent food with outstanding service. Can only recommend!

The location was really convenient; only 6 minutes outside Barrydale, so we could pop in and see a few things there. The place is so rustic which is exactly what we like. Views were outstanding and we really had a relaxing time. Cerise was a fantastic host and sharing local things to do and keeping us up to date.
