We had an amazing stay at Makuwa. Simone and Morné were excellent hosts. They made our stay perfect with their warmth and attention to details. Meals were exceptional, even catering for my gluten free needs. Our room was very comfortable, and we loved sitting on the patio enjoying the bird life, sunsets and the odd warthog. Evenings were spent around the fire, chatting and listening to the roar of lions and hyenas in the distance. Makuwa is an easy 25min drive away from Orpen gate if you want to enter the KNP. A great lodge in a great location, absolute value for money. We were sad to say goodbye to Morné, Simone and their 3 dogs. We can definitely highly recommend Makuwa!

Everything about the property is great, lovely dinners, lovely ladies from reception to the serving. Lovely room, very clean and cosy. The location also great, I’ve travelled more than three times and I use a small hatchback but the roads aren’t bad.

Set in a stunning location just outside the Greater Kruger Park, there are two viewing decks from which to watch game (we saw elephants, kudu, impala and warthog during our stay). Tommy, Andrea, Jan and their team were lovely and super welcoming. The pool area and surrounds are beautiful and were just what we were looking for, somewhere to relax with a book after a long safari in the Kruger. Lovely bar and a la carte restaurant.
