Everything!!! We took our daughter for her first birthday, and she loves birds - there were two blue cranes always about, weavers, lots of mallard ducks, southern red bishops and more. The old country house decor of the rooms was so gorgeous and were the old grape vines climbing up the front of the chalet. The red roses were just in bloom and they added a certain magic. The dam, the pond, the swings, the reeds, being in the quiet of the country…. It was much more than we expected! And the hostess was so lovely, she made us feel so welcome and even helped us with sticky tape for pressie wrapping. She definitely made our stay much more pleasant by her warmth. The walks into the country were so calming, no sounds, just the birds and the trees…. A space to come back to yourself through nature. Highly recommend!!!

The setting was breathtaking. This is a beautiful, rustic but well designed and decorated space. Every need was catered for. The plunge pool was an added bonus. The evening light brought out the colour's of the fynbos, and on one windless night, there was a landscape of magical stars.

The house is perfect for a group of friends in the summer. The pool was a welcome reprieve from the heat and everyone in the town was so friendly. The only reason I could think to not recommend it is so that we can keep this little gem for ourselves

The calmness of the area and the house felt like we were secluded from people and in our own bubble but close to town to get anything we needed. It was very hot and the host helped us combat this by providing us fans. We loved how the place was decorated, and it was entertaining exploring the different artifacts on the house. They were very helpful in suggesting places to go in the area and explore. We went to the town's Christmas market and saw SANTA ON A DONKEY CART!

Very nice cottage. Good attention to detail. Everything you would need, even swimming towels. Must do the wine tasting. Very good! Lovely mosquito net - use it, or the flies will wake you up in the morning.

We found that the people in the town were extremely helpful...

We found that the people in the town were extremely helpful and friendly and would go out of their way for you, making your visit very pleasant. We had delicious food at Jimmy's and Tebaldi's.We tasted the scrumptious monster burgers from the food truck that comes every Tuesday and Thusday. I even had a back massage offered by Charmaine who runs a shop with pamper treatments.

It is well worth the trip from Cape town.

It is well worth the trip from Cape town. The little town has quaint shops, a very good coffee shop and I had the most delicious apple pie ever from the farmers' market. The delightful little cottage was perfect for our needs.

Beautiful, clean little town.

Beautiful, clean little town. Quant little clothing shops, beautiful to visit. Maaaany bargains to be found. Mostly, friendly people. Only at Jimmys restaurant, did we have very poor reception, but we didn't let that upset us, we went and had a Fantastic meal at Four Cousins . Our meals at the coffee shop in Roberstons, Strictly Coffee, were out of this World, magnificent service and hearty, delicious meals.

The restaurants, bars and cafes were all very welcoming and served delicious food and great wines. The locals have time to chat and share what they love about their town and why they live there. There is a real sense of community.

I have been to McGregor a few times in the past, the last...

I have been to McGregor a few times in the past, the last being 11 years ago. I enjoyed the stay but felt that the area has deteriorated since my last visit. Entrance to town messy and unkempt. However, restaurants were good and a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary was a highlight.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets. It is a sleepy town with fantastic places to eat and relax. Safe. The surrounding area of farms is verdant and beautiful. There are many many choices available for accommodation.

I don’t think the photographs did this beautiful space justice. It’s really stunning, wonderful views over the town of McGregor. The outside showers linked to the indoor showers were magical. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook delicious meals. We enjoyed the fireplace and comfortable beds as our visit was during winter. The gardens are absolutely stunning as well. Close enough for a walk into town for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Our stay at the property was extremely comfortable and everything that we needed was in the property. We were welcomed with a hot tub which was already prepared and hot, a fresh bread and a bottle of wine. It was really special and I would like to promote this property for anyone who would like to stay in the McGregor/Robertson environment.

The stay was absolutely exceptional. So many special touches which made it feel like a home-away-from-home. Recommend this stay for everyone going to McGregor. The breakfast basket with all the homemade goodies for breakfast & something for the road is something that we will always remember.
