Absolutely loved staying here! Thank you so much to the host Janine who met us to do the keys handover and explain everything. Communication before we arrived was excellent, the house was beautiful, exceptionally clean and had everything we needed including space in the garage to park our hire car overnight. Just wish we got to stay an additional night!

Raka is the perfect choice for anyone visiting Sutherland. It is within close walking distance to several restaurants and attractions in town, and is incredibly good value for money. The house is authentic, very spacious and comfortable - with 2 large bedrooms, a living area with an indoor braai, a fully stocked kitchen, and even has full Dstv. Anneline was a friendly host and facilitated a truly fantastic stay for us!

The hosts really go the extra mile to provide an authentic Karoo experience! They're also incredibly kind-hearted people. As an animal lover, my favourite part of our stay was interacting with the donkeys, horses, cats, dogs, and chickens that amicably roam sections of the farm. The (DELICIOUS) homemade skilpadjies and plaasbrood were also a highlight!

What a beautiful home. We were so comfortable in this large Karoo house. It was a gorgeous stay.

Lovely and romantic rustic cabin away from the centre of town on the grounds of Middelfontein Farm. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is present. I was told to get some firewood but it warm enough without. There's no electricity but heaps of candles, an oil lamp and a powerbank would you need to charge a phone. The town is about 15 minutes drive and has all you need including a tire repair shop (which I needed after the beautiful drive from Calvinia). Nice hikes with lots of plants on the farm.

Excellent reception by a kind and friendly host. As they were busy doing maintenance on the main building which could have been noisy, the host suggested an upgrade of the accommodation at no charge. This took us to a farm-stay on the outskirts of town where we stayed in a beautiful cottage called 'Safraan'. The cottage, rustic and characterful in appearance, featured a huge Karoo fireplace, items reminiscent of an age gone by, comfortable sleep, and a nice, clean bathroom. Sitting on the 'stoep' overlooking the vastness of the Karoo, brought a calmness of spirit difficult to describe. Simply said - when can't wait to go back!
