Staff were lovely and friendly, let us check in early with no fuss. Even gave us a drink and snack on arrival. Room was much nicer than we normally go for, and amazing value for money! Spacious, clean, huge COMFORTABLE beds, nice balcony, excellent breakfast (with lots of choices), easy walking distance to all the sights, staff will arrange any trips if you ask them. The monks pass by every morning collecting alms at about 05.45/06.00, should you wish to catch this spectacle. Small family restaurant (Pa Lai Restaurant) at the end of the lane was also amazing. Highly recommended 😁

Everything - The location with the river in front, the proximity to the elephants in the sanctuary was just beyond unique and beautiful. The beautiful tented river view villas with their big balcony was pure indulgence, from there we got the chance to observe the life of the Lao people farming and going about their lives by the river. We were also entertained several times a day by the elephants being fed and bathed by excited tourists! The landscape was simply magical from dawn to dusk, from the heavy morning mist to the star filled skies at night. The sense of peace and tranquility, unfortunately broken by Mr Pun blaring loud Lao music over 2 days of the New Year, and relaxed pace of life in Shangri-Lao will stay with us for a long time - until we return! We were very well looked after by Fong, her team plus all the guys in the resort - a big thank you!
