Marvao and our accomodation was a highlight so far on our 17 day road trip of Portugal. The apartment was authentic and very comfortable, bed was super comfortable with lots of warm doonas, the bathroom was clean with great hot water. We were the only guests for the night, kitchen facilities downstairs and a lounge. We ate out but did use the fridge. Coffee machine and our own cereal breakfast made a great start to the morning. Host, Maria, was very welcoming and explained things well. A great stay within the city walls and an easy walk to the castle. Recommend this place for an overnight stay.

We stayed at Quinta d'Abegoa's apartment, Casa do Souto, which is very cosy and ideal for two people. Everything is really well thought out so the apartment felt bigger than it actually was. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The outside space is beautiful - we loved sitting out, listening to the birds and the bells from the sheep, while enjoying the views of the both the castle and over towards the mountains and Spain. We made the most of being able to walk to restaurants in Marvao (although it is uphill all the way!) but we also cooked at the property - the kitchen is tiny but is very well-equipped and has everything you need to self-cater. Our host, Rosa, looked after us extremely well, bringing us breakfast every day, and nothing was too much trouble. We love the area around Marvao and will definitely return for another stay at Casa do Souto.

We drove 10 hours from France to Alentejo for a two week trip in the region and Beirã was our first stop. Arriving in this cute little village was so nice. Tapada da Beirã is such a quiet, peaceful and charming place to stay. We loved everything about it. It's full of cute little cats. The swimming pool is amazing. And the owners Maria and Jose are so welcoming, helpful and nice. The room is very cute and comfortable. We had more than we expected, coffee, tea, microwave, sink to do the dishes. We would recommend anyone else to go there and spent few nights. It's a perfect starting point to visit Marvão, Castelo do Vide and the surroundings. Don't miss the former Marvão-Beirã train station in the village of Beirã. The bar "Bernardos" just down the street is amazing too super fresh beers and amazing olives ! We wish we could stay there again soon ! Jose and Maria thank you for everything and give our hugs to Amora 🐈 Mily and Bittor

Absolutely loved the location. Every single little detail was thought through, everything that you could possibly need was available throughout all the rooms. Cleanliness was impeccable, nothing to complain about. The beds were extremely comfortable and we liked the touch of having different pillows for different preferences. The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Loved the pool table. Perfect little piece of heaven. Perfect to seek some peace and quiet. Friendly hosts and easy check in. Great communication.

If I can give one piece of advice, book for as long as you can, you will not regret it. Whether it is to move between the hammocks and the pool, to walk and explore the mountains or use it as a base to explore nearby attractions you will feel like you are in a little piece of heaven here. In four days not a single car drove past and my only companions were the distant sheep bells and occasional shepherd meandering by. The house itself is incredibly designed, the value for money is exceptional and Ana is such a kind and eager host if you need anything. If you are looking for a country escape, this is it!

A beautiful location surrounded by amazing views. A lovely old traditional house full of quirky features. The air conditioning was very welcome. Antonio is an amazing host. He met us at Portagem and showed us around the two local swimming pools. We used these to cool down at the end of a busy day. Antonio then escorts you to the house and ensures you know how everything works. We had a brilliant time.

Absolutely perfect! The house is so beautiful and comfortable! The front of the house is all in glass, with a breathtaking panoramic view! I's so cosy and all the details made us felt so welcomed. Every bedroom had its own bath, the beds were super comfortable. You have stunning views from every room. There was a lot of space. Outside, the house has an amazing private terrace, so comfortable to relax and enjoy the view! The sense of peace we feel there is unique. Irene is an excellent hostess and made us feel so welcome! We loved everything and we want to come back!
