Weiping, the owner, truly went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Not only did he provide me with food and drinks late at my arrival night and during holidays, he also organised a very inexpensive car for me and invited me on a fishing trip with his friends. Altough I didn`t catch anything, we still shared dinner together. His staff was helpful and trustful, I requested another room because the previous tenant smoked and it was still lingering in the room. The staff went upstairs with me and we checked several rooms together and they let me pick one. I was also trusted with doing all my payments on checkout day without securities or deposit. I felt extremely welcome and comfortable there. It is only 3 minutes walk from the airport, but quite a stretch over the causeway from the town.

This hotel is one of the best encountered so far across 5 islands visited. This is made better because of Aussie owner Josh, who is so helpful, takes you to see sites or arranges local tours. Staff are friendly, on site restaurant great and a wonderful pool to refresh in. Super clean and light airy rooms. We didn't snorkel in the blue pool as the tide was high and sea choppy. The island is very natural, with little development.

Located in Colonia, Yap Pacific Dive Resort offers 3-star accommodations with a garden. The look and feel of an old plantation house, but with all the mod-cons. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Decent wifi. The Chinese manager/jack-of-all-trades goes above and beyond in hospitality – he even drove us around the island for a full tour, completely gratis! The name is a misnomer – three of the four dive shops have closed (only Manta remaining), but that is no impediment to taking the short walk (or accept the proferred ride) downhill to use their services. A plus is that check-in/check-out times are coodinated with the flights that land in leave in the middle of the night.
