Huge, beautifully furnished room and bathroom! Impressive lobby, too, and with free tea and coffee facilities both in room and lobby. Completely quiet, and dog friendly too. The owner/caretaker was super friendly and accommodating, and even came back to help when we couldn't remember where we parked our car. Even our fellow guests were nice! And old town Piacenza is delightful.

The Stadio Hotel is a modern property 500 metres from Piacenza's Garilli Stadium. It offers free parking, and great bus links to the city centre, 3 km away. The rooms offer free WiFi.

The rooms were comfortable, clean and located in a quiet environment. The manager and staff were friendly and accommodating. Kudos to the manager for bringing me to the station when there were no taxis around in time for my train.

We liked everything. The receptionist, Rebecca, was very helpful, spoke good English, and professionally dealt with our queries. She wasn't 100% sure if the restaurant was open that night as it is only used if there are groups staying. (It turned out that it was open). But Rebecca offered to organise for someone to give us a lift the 2km back into town and recommended a restaurant if we were going to have to do that. Our room was good and large and the bathroom had a fantastic large bath with decent shower in it. We had an exceptionally good dinner. Matthew, our waiter, was fantastic. Good English, polite, efficient, with great enthusiasm, and he definitely wanted us to understand everything on the menu. The food was delicious. The grounds of this venue are beautiful, with the pond full of frogs and lots of rabbits running across the lawns. Breakfast was good.

Hotel Nord is in Guardamiglio, just outside the exit of the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway and a 30-minute drive from Milan. All rooms offer air conditioning and free internet. Parking is free.

The location is up a windy road but the route is worthwhile for the view once you arrive. I ate in the restaurant and this was to a high standard.
