Everything from decor, linens, breakfast, coffee machine, communication could not have been better. We will certainly be back.

Albion Hotel, a family-run hotel in the centre of Ieper, is 350 metres from the Menin Gate. It features free high-speed WiFi, an intimate bar and packed lunch services.

All of the rooms at Albion have a flat-screen TV, work desk and tea and coffee making facilities. Each bathroom features a shower or bath and a hairdryer. I feel I stumbled onto a precious gem! We had a last minute detour to Ypres and I booked the Albion because of its proximity to the Menin gate. I can’t say enough about the hospitality of this family run hotel. When I think of our short stay in Ypres I may remember chatting with Daphne at the Albion desk and bar as much as our visit to the Flanders Museum just around the corner! Besides the kindness of the owners, our room was modern but with architectural features that honored the past. The high tech skylight looked up on the steeple of the nearby church. The bar was comfortable with great local beers. And be sure to include breakfast! A spread worthy of the cost. Thank you Daphne and the entire family for your hospitality!

Ariane is a family-run hotel offering modern rooms including a buffet-style breakfast, a 7-minute walk from Ypres' historical centre with the Menin Gate and the In Flanders Fields Museum. This hotel is surrounded by gardens with a pond, a secluded terrace and a petanque square. Very courteous, efficient and helpful staff. Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Wonderful breakfast. Nice outside dining area. Large parking lot. Central location. I seldom rate hotels as a 10, but for my group and I, the Ariane excelled in all counts!

The four-star Pillows City Hotel Brussels Centre is located in the centre of Brussels, only 100 metres from Brussels Central Station and the St Michael & St Gudule Cathedral. The hotel has private parking, free Wi-Fi and a bar with Belgian drinks. Convenient location, super close to Brussels central station. Walking distance to the main points. Pleasant room, very clean, and they provide coffee, water and tea. There is also possibility for room service and the food is good.

Grand Hotel Casselbergh offers historic features and modern facilities in Bruges, 270 metres from the Grote Markt. This 4-star hotel includes free Wi-Fi and a wellness centre in the 16th-century cellars. The location is excellent—a few minutes' walk from all the places we wanted to visit in the city. The breakfast buffet is magnificent, with a variety of everything. The place is royal!
