A hidden gem nestled in the historical Hutong area in central Bejing, the shadow art themed 北京什刹海皮影文化主题酒店 could be a peaceful retreat away from the bustling urban life. This is the quintessential place to stay in Beijing if you want to experience a beautiful blend of art, culture, nature and history. Jocelyn and her team of dedicated staff were constantly on hand to answer all of our questions, they were so helpful, gave us loads of useful advice and assistance with any technical issues with accessing the local facilities via Alipay and WeChat. We went to Badaling Great Wall so easily for a day trip by taking the subway to Beijing Bei (North) station (Xizhimen subway station on Line 2, Line 4 and Line 13) and bought high speed railway tickets to visit at short notice and at a very cheap price. We would highly recommend getting a private bus trip via Trip.com to Jinshanling (Great Wall) which is about 2 hours outside Beijing by getting the subway to Dongximen subway station. This was the highlight of our stay, much quieter than Badaling, cheaper cable car and vast parts of the wall to explore if you have the energy and time. Beijing Shadow Art Performance Courtyard is a must stay, nestled within one of the many historic Hudongs of downtown Beijing. You will not be disappointed and only left wanting to explore this amazing country/city more.

A beautiful, tranquil small boutique hotel with amazing hospitality. Staffs are very friendly, helpful, and professional. The breakfast was top-notch, and the room was stunning clean, bright, and so comfortable. I love the antique furnishings, traditional Chinese musical performance and calligraphy activities that the hotel provided every evening. Sipping authentic tea while enjoying traditional Chinese musical performance in a serene courtyard made it the perfect retreat after a long day in the sun. Highly recommended!
