The interior is designed in a contemporary style to complement the architecture of the 18th-century lobby. Very nice hotel in the centre of Nantes. Position close to the opera theatre and to the main road toward Place Royal. You can go out and find everything you need. My room was the basic one and it was very comfortable and clean.

All of the guest rooms include a private bathroom with free toiletries. Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect. If I could give it higher that a "10," I gladly would. We biked the entire island, so I saw all the other hotel options. L'Ocean stands out. The location is superb - right on the ocean with breath-taking views from the room (including sunsets!). The staff is exceptional. To a person they were warm, accomodating, professional and yet fun and personable. In messaging prior to arrival, staff members were very helpful, even making dinner reservations at restaurants other than their own. We dined at the in-hotel restaurant, Le Bistrot, one night and it was delicious, and right on the water with another awesome view. Our room was lovely - large and bright with a very comfortable bed and fabulous blackout shutters for sleep. And, can I mention the view again??!! Breakfast on the balcony was delightful and so plentiful - fresh juice and fruit, baguettes and pain au chocolat, jellies and the butter..!! I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

The room and bathroom were spacious, compared to what we have experienced in our 5 weeks traveling around France. The staff were incredibly helpful. The decor of the hotel was delightful. Hotel The Originals Nantes Voltaire Opéra (ex Qualys-Hotel) is located in central Nantes, 50 metres from the Théâtre Graslin and a 10-minute walk from Machines de l'île. The hotel was originally built in 1855. We were greeted with friendly faces every time we passed reception and the staff were extremely helpful.
