I had a small cave room just for one person and it was very lovely. The view from the terrace is magnificent, especially during the sunset.

Overlooking Matera’s Sasso Barisano, Fra I Sassi Residence is set in restored 17th-century buildings inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site area. Our experience at Fra i Sassi was absolutely unforgettable. Our room was beautiful and full of character — the bathroom was set directly in the cave, which gave it such a unique and authentic touch. One of the highlights was definitely the view: right from our window we had a breathtaking panorama of Matera, perfect at any time of day. The location couldn’t have been better. We had no issues at all with our luggage, and the direct shuttle to the hotel made arrival super easy. Once there, we were within walking distance of everything — it’s perfectly situated to explore the Sassi and the historic center. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for food and activities, helped with reservations, and made us feel completely at home. A big plus for us: we were traveling with our dog and everything went smoothly. And breakfast? Just as amazing as everything else — fresh, local, and delicious. Highly recommend staying here if you want the full Matera experience with comfort, charm, and warm hospitality

Set 700 metres from the Sassi di Matera UNESCO site, Hotel Casino Ridola offers a swimming pool and free parking with video surveillance. WiFi is free in all rooms. It's a very nice hotel, a former house by a famous architect from Matera. We spent the night in two very nice comfortable rooms. The beds are super comfortable. Parking is free. Thank you to the nice, professional, and very helpful receptionist who gave us a map of this splendid town and highlighted the best places to visit and restaurants to eat.

A truly unique and memorable stay—our first time sleeping in a cave! Francesco was so warm and welcoming, greeting us with coffee and croissants and sharing a map to walk us through Matera’s rich history and must-see spots. The cave itself was a beautiful loft-style flat, cozy yet spacious. Such a special experience—we’re so glad we stayed here!

L'Arturo B&B offers modern-style rooms in central Matera, 50 metres from its Cathedral. Free WiFi is provided in the entire building. We loved our stay at Arturo B&B. Monica and Arturo are incredibly kind. The accommodation is very well located in the historic center and has incredible charm. The breakfast was excellent, as well as Arturo's sandwiches from his grocery store just a few steps from the B&B. A big thank you for this wonderful stay!
