Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. Fantastic stay! The dinner and breakfast is delicious, and is a must for staying at a ryokan. Another great thing is that there is a family/semi-private onsen for you to enjoy.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. The food - breakfast and dinner - was amazing.

Situated at the heart of historic Takayama Old Town and just steps away from Takayama Jinya Morning Market, the traditional Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan offers personalised hospitality, hot spring baths... You can message hotel to pick you up at bus or train station. I did it last minute but service was prompt and smooth. Suite room is spacious with impressive view. There are three onsen to try. I tried onsen on 1st floor safter dinner ,onsen at 7 th floor of hotel infront of this hotel in early morning…..sunrise light was so beautiful. Third onsen is 2 storey old building in front , I miss it. Breakfast and dinner was great.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. We stayed as a family of 4 at Magome Chaya for 2 nights while exploring the Nakasendo during Autumn. We experienced their breakfast and dinner services, and both can only be described as two of the best meals we had in our entire stay in Japan. The friendliness and quality service from Jeng and her team is exceptional and the facilities are great value. When you add to the fact that the property is situated on absolutely the very best location for taking pictures of the stunning sunsets and views of Magome I can't recommend it any higher. Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Lovely place and k so much enjoyed my stay

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. The hotel is only a 4 min walk from the station and very close to other landmarks nearby even hida folk village! The staff was amazing and the whole hotel is strictly no shoes policy. They provide comfortable socks to walk around the hotel areas which gives a very pleasant and traditional feel as all the rooms and hotel floors are tatami! The hotel also has public onsen for men and women while also providing for 3 different private onsen which during our stay did not have trouble finding vacant! All onsen are really good! The hotel also provides lots of amenities, and price included drinks, coffees, night ramen and ice creams which were delicious after having a relaxing onsen. Highly recommended for the traditional element of the rooms and the onsen! Breakfast has plenty of choices both western and traditional! I highly recommend to try the local breakfast options.

Ideally located just a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Station and Shirakawa-go Bus Terminal, this hotel boasts a natural hot spring bath where guests can unwind. Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas. Very nice location close to JR Station. Staff was very nice and room was clean. Breakfast was very tasty. Highly recommend.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths looking over the city and heartfelt hospitality, Honjin Hiranoya Annex is ideally located just steps away from popular Takayama Jinya building and its morning... Loved the whole time spent in this hotel. Everthing was amazing, from the food, the hotel itself, the king people working there, the baths..., thank you for an amazing experience in a lovely place!
