The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and had a heating pad for the back. Good Japanese breakfast. Great area to reach most of the attractions, but not too crowded with tourists.

The bathroom comes with a deep bathtub where guests can relax after a long day. Everything was perfect! The room was much better than the pictures. It was super spacious and the view was great. Excellent shower as well. The staff although they didn’t speak good English they were always there to help us.

Ideally located just a 2-minute walk from lively Nishiki Market and Ponto-cho Street, Matsui Honkan boasts large public baths and chic Japanese-style rooms. It is within a 10-minute walk from Shijo, Karasuma and Kawaramachi subway stations. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the public area. The best hotel experience both of us has ever had. The room was huge and the futon beds were very comfortable, the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. We will definitely return here in our next trip to Kyoto.

This non-smoking hotel provides in-room massages service can be arranged. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises. We came here during our honeymoon in Japan. The staff was very friendly and made us feel at home. It was a great experience to stay at a traditional Ryokan run by a family for generations.
