While planning a winter escape, I focused more on the type of resort rather than location or beach. I wanted to feel pampered, zen and with nature. I had stayed at Viceroy hotels in the US before and always had a good experience, so I was happy to find this one with only 40 or so rooms and the type of setting I was seeking. The care the staff took was unparalleled to any other experience we’ve had. They looked after us, brought us treats, knew our preferences and were always so accommodating. The massage was the best we ever experienced. The vibe of the common areas is low key; no loud music or obnoxious behavior, the food was excellent. The suites are so different from your average resort, the bed was huge and comfortable, each room has an outdoor shower and plunge pool. The rain head showers were a delight with excellent pressure. I can’t say enough about this wonderful place (obviously). If you’re seeking an out-of-the-ordinary adult experience to relax and be pampered, this is the place.

The room with Jacuzzi was very large, clean and welcoming. They also had some flowers that I had ordered online delivered to my room before I arrived. I recommend it.

The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. We were very happy with our stay at Xscape Tulum. The bedroom was clean and comfortable with a nice little balcony, that was surrounded by plants for lots of privacy. The pool area was great - especially as the beach in Tulum is currently covered in seaweed, the pool was a perfect place to relax and cool off. The staff were very helpful and kind. The restaurant was also great, they offered a good breakfast deal until 12pm each day, so no rush to wake up in the morning. The hotel also offered bike rentals which was very useful to explore the surrounding areas.

Every guest room at the Hotel Pelicano Inn Playa del Carmen features a private bathroom and air conditioning. Some rooms provide a view of the ocean. Lovely accomodation for a beach getaway. For a very busy and noisy town. You felt very sheltered from it. Access via a corridor through from the street. The only noise that was annoying was doof doof music played by competing establishments in the morning in particular, while utilising the beach chairs. The other rooms isn't immediately noticeable due to the design. It was lovely. Nice breakfasts, massages and beach location in the very centre of Player Del Carmen.

Only after leaving the inn do you find yourself in the making of an adventure. Everything is a few steps away - restaurants, shops, pizzeria, pharmacy, mini market. The beach is a 4-5 minute walk away. The room is spacious enough, the beds are comfortable, there is a safe, although we also lacked a refrigerator. The room is cleaned and towels are changed daily. No noise is heard either inside the hotel or in the rooms. Since we returned to this hotel for the second time after a 4-day break - we were offered Suite Monaco at a special price, which is on the top floor of the hotel with sunbeds, a jacuzzi, a unique terrace and an impressive-sized room. Small continental breakfast: coffee/tea, juice, fruit plate, toast with butter and jam, granola.
