The hotel is lodged in five characteristic North Holland houses with a beautiful garden in the middle on the water's edge. The restaurant offers you a good international kitchen. Many famous sights are just a stone's throw from Edam. There are excellent public-transport connections with Amsterdam and other famous places of interest. Famous for its distinctive cheese which shares the town's name, you can sample it for yourself from the market in Nieuwenhuizen Square. Other attractions include the 14th century Church of Saint Nicholas with ornate stained glass windows and carved woodwork from the period. Hotel and our room were gorgeous. The breakfast was included and served beautifully. Bed was very comfortable. A heat-pump in the room kept us cool and we slept wonderfully. The town is quiet and it was perfect for an evening walk after dinner in the hotel's dining room.

Each of the 78 bedrooms have been uniquely decorated and feature authentic Dutch decor. Rooms are generously proportioned and some of them offer views over the Lake Markermeer or Volendam’s famous boulevard on the dike. Old charms hotel with a gorgeous selection of art paintings. My room had a big balcony with sea view. Although centrally located on the strip it is very quiet. Staff at reception, restaurant and spa are friendly. Room has all amenities. I would definitely stay again in this hotel.
