The air-conditioned rooms at the Hotel da Oliveira all feature a private bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer plus a flat-screen cable TV. The units also feature a minibar and some a balcony. All the rooms are individually decorated with themes regarding historical Guimarães personalities. The hotel location is perfect! the staff is very helpful and room is big and we loved the breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel as it is near the centre and it is surrounded by many coffee shops and restaurants.

Located in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, Lagoa Azul do Geres offers apartments and rooms overlooking Albufeira da Caniçada and the outdoor pool. Guests can relax on the sun terrace with sun-loungers which surrounds the pool. We were welcomed by the nicest receptionist who explained everything exceptionally. Swimming pool with the most amazing views you can imagine!

Situated in a 12th century Augustin Convent, the Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes overlooks Guimarães. Rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning and cable TV.

Each of the individually decorated rooms are located in what used to be cloisters. All rooms of Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes offer an en suite bathroom. The most outstanding element were the staff who were fabulous, kind and helpful. Always smiling

Located in Braga, Tea 4 Nine Guest House lunch is served in the apartments. This self-catering accommodation features free WiFi. The property is 270 metres from Biscainhos Museum and 1.7 km from Braga Municipal Stadium. Super clean apartment on the first floor with needed kitchen equipment for make a light meal. The apartment is all white, which makes it easy to see that the apartment is very clean. There are bathrobes and slippers for when one gets back “home”, and dishwasher for cleaning the dishes so one does not need to hand wash. The bed and pillows are on the firm side (perfect for me). There is a small convenience/supermarket just a few steps away, and a larger one (Pingo Doce) about 5 min walk away (I am a speed walker FYI). The bus terminal is 5 min away (Google map says 7 min). All the “tourist sites” are near the apartment. Train station is about a 10 min walk (Google map says 13-15 min). Can’t comment on parking as I didn’t drive, but I saw parking sign near the square where the apartment is located. Margarida provides breakfast for the entire stay, so please let her know if there is any dietary restriction. I didn’t as I didn’t expect it to be a “complete” continental breakfast (bread, prosciutto, cheese, milk, fruit juice, fruit, water, soda and even a bottle of vino verde!). I am gluten/sodium/sugar free due to health issues, so it isn’t easy for me when I travel, but for future visits I would definitely let Margarida know about my dietary restrictions. Overall I really enjoyed this stay and would definitely stay here again when I am back to Braga!

The elegant studios at Casa do Ameal are traditionally decorated with exposed stone walls. They all feature with a fridge and an en-suite bathroom. Everything! João was a brilliant host and was incredibly helpful in the lead up to our trip, and whilst we were there. The rooms and whole of the property were lovely. Delicious breakfast every morning with fresh fruit and pastries. Very close to Viana do Castelo and literally next door to two supermarkets but the hotel felt like your own private oasis. The pool was lovely and refreshing. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
