Don't let the name put you off. There is a small, tidy butcher shop on the ground floor but most of the multi-story house has been turned into a B&B, including a spacious breakfast room and a lovely outdoor patio with lots of seating and potted plants. The room was tastefully painted with a soothing sage green, and the hallways and common areas are decorated with antique books and various shop paraphernalia, such as an old cash register, to add visual interest. The breakfast was very tasty, with freshly made fruit salad and local cheeses and meats. The hostess is dedicated to the hotel and her guests. Entrance is easy after hours with the lockbox. Outside, there's a small passage that will lead you to the other side of the tracks, so you can reach the lakeside promenade in less than five minutes.

Piccolo Hotel enjoys a quiet location, an 8-minute walk from the Locarno Train Station and the centre of the city.

Everything was wonderful! the hosts, the staff are very friendly, considerate and always ready to help :-)) The hotel itself is very nice and cosy, and it is located in a quiet area (which is important, especially in the evening). It takes only 7-8 minutes to walk to the railway station and the lake! Breakfast is really excellent, there is a selection of different kinds of food for any taste, I think :-) The wifi is a bit slow but it's not a problem.

I stayed for almost 3 weeks and it was a perfect base for my travels all over Ticino. Just a few minutes walk down to the train station and right on one of the main bus lines (#1). It's also close to a few supermarkets (Minusio Piazza) as well as the Piazza Grande and main sights of Locarno. The apartment is clean, spacious and has good airflow and lots of windows. The balcony is perfect to relax after a long day walking around. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe in the neighborhood, building and apartment.The few times I did see neighbors, they were always friendly. Both Daniel and Mr M.were very responsive and friendly in their dealings with me. Everything was pretty straightforward so I didn't need much. I had a great time, and would recommend this accommodation, and I also hope to come back again sometime.

It’s within walking distance to the railway station, the ferry terminal and also a self serve laundromat. Breakfast was plentiful and all the staff were friendly and made our stay more enjoyable.
