It is clearly signed and close to Steinhausen station with easy access by key-code and card. The shared lounge and kitchenette is comfortable and convenient. Our bedroom was very clean, fully equipped with a good shower. We slept well for a two-day visit to see our daughter (who lives in Steinhausen) and meet our new grand-daughter. Andi served us breakfast which is included. Andi is a wonderful host, very keen that we enjoyed our stay.

We found this cozy and affordable accommodation by chance. Horgen is about 25 mins train from Zurich HB and 30 mins from Zurich airport It is a small town by Lake Zurich. The apartment is within walking distance from the train station and swimming facility. Excellent place to unwind and reboot.. Cost is a fraction of that in Zurich. We bought a rail pass that gives us unlimited rides in train, ferry, and bus in the whole zurich canton. This makes horgen an even better choice to stay. Although Chez Esther is a homestay, there is complete privacy as Esther is usually in her own room. Our own 26 sq m room has a desk, lounge area, TV, and many books. We have a dedicated toilet just outside our room solely for our use. We can use the oven and refrigerator. We can take our meals in one of two lovely terraces.

The property is set in a stunning area. Whilst Switzerland in general is extremely picturesque, you cannot beat the views which are on your door stop. You are set on Lake Zug with views of the surrounding mountains. Whilst slightly off the beaten track it is easy accessible with the train station a short 5 minute walk away with good connections. Not that you’d know because you don’t hear the trains! You can swim in the pool or take a swim in the lake or even better… paddle boarding! The outdoor area is well decorated with the sun setting down throughout the day. The property itself is designed for couples but is well designed, clean and modern. The host is happy to be contacted throughout the stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again despite being on the pricier side which I think is currently a fair value.
