The room was generous in Japanese standards. The location is to the west of the busy shopping area of Kyoto but not too far to walk to. The best part facility is definitely the public bath that is open form 15.00 to the following morning 10.00. Absolutely excellent. After a sweaty day outside it is amazing to soak in the hot bath and even in the morning it allows a relaxed start to the day.

Everything is good. The room and facilities are well designed and clean,, and they even offered free simple breakfast. The staff who took good care of me, even though I arrived in deep night. The staff can speak Chinese, English and Japanese.

Amazing hospitality in a wonderful establishment. The staff does everything they can to make the stay unique, memorable, luxurious and comfortable. The public bath is nice and relaxing. The dinner and breakfast is unlike anything I would typically experience as a westerner. Kyoto can be very intense sometimes, and this establishment provided us with an escape when needed.

The bed - most comfortable ever, also for my husband (and he would usually prefer a firmer madress than me. The bathroom, including the spacious bathtub. The dimmer switches everywhere to allow you to have a relaxing ambience, even in the bathroom, and the blackout curtains to help deal with jetlag. The fact that everything was simple but very high quality. We have stayed in both 'fancier' hotels and in places with more stars, but this was so comfortable and hospitable - simple, quality comfort. The staff, excellent English and helpful with everything, including securing us s table at a specific Michelin restaurant we hoped to visit.

The hotel was beautiful, our room was spacious and clean. The location was also perfect - a metro stop away from the Railway station and a walking distance from the city center and many tourist attractions. We were highly impressed by the kindness of the hotel staff and management. We had additional requests about the organization of our trip and they were willing to advise and help us. Location! Gion is the best place to stay in Kyoto by far. It’s walking distance to a lot of beautiful sites; it’s near the Kamo river, night life and restaurants; and it’s beautiful and connected to the ancient history of the city. You are surrounded by beautiful old buildings, canals and history and you can sometimes walk past beautifully dressed Maiko going to their appointments in the evening (note walk past and not photograph). This hotel is perfectly placed. It’s also a few minutes from the bus stop where you can get everywhere. The hotel is very comfortable with full amenities, a balcony, comfortable bedding and an en-suite. The staff are also very lovely and welcoming.
