Location was good, although a few minutes walking distance from major sights and attractions. But all doable by foot or bike and metro station connecting to Kyoto central station is close by (3 mins). Convenience stores around the corner (Family Mart, 7 Eleven) as well as restaurants and a superb (!!!) coffee place (named In the Coffee). Staff were friendly and helpful. Possibility to store luggage upon early arrival as well as late departure. Would be nice to have a safe/lockbox in-room, but we just took our valuables (esp. passports & wallets) with us when leaving the room. Didn't have breakfast or dinner but there were special offers, happy hour and even a DJ hosting the evenings available. Looked nice. Room is small - as expected in Japan - but everything available that's needed and options to store luggage under the bed. Would definitely recommend and come back when in Kyoto again! The room was big compared to hotel rooms in Japan. It was comfortable. The hotel was in a perfect location. Just a few meters from the shopping streets. The bus stop was 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Having a smoking room inside was a huge plus for me :-) The staff were very friendly and their English was good.

The hospitality from the team is amazing. The whole team greeted us upon reaching the ryokan and served us hot tea upon returning to the room after a long day out. It really have the "coming home" feeling. The food is Kyoto speciality and there are so many courses to finish for the evening meals. It's really great to try out new cursine e public bath is well maintained and is quite exclusive as this is a small ryokan. Overall, we loved our stay here and my kids are hoping to visit them again.

This is a beautiful hotel located in the historic center of Kyoto. Nestled on a quiet street just off the main road, the hotel offers a peaceful atmosphere, though evening traffic in the area can still be quite busy. The location is excellent — several train stations and bus stops are within walking distance, making it easy to explore the city. There is an incredible number of shops and restaurants in the vicinity, and many popular landmarks are within walking distance. Others can be reached quickly and comfortably by public transportation, especially by bus, which is very convenient in Kyoto. Check-in was very quick and smooth. The staff were extremely polite, professional, and genuinely friendly. Our room was spacious by Japanese standards, well-equipped with everything we needed, including a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Room service was excellent — prompt, discreet, and attentive to details, which made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. Breakfast was not overly varied but everything was absolutely delicious, with high-quality ingredients and careful preparation. We stayed for five days and never got tired of the breakfast offerings. The hotel also features a rooftop bar and lounge with impressive views of the Takase River and the cityscape — a perfect place to relax in the evening. The interior design combines modern comfort with subtle traditional touches, creating a warm and refined atmosphere. Overall, this hotel offers a perfect balance of location, comfort, and hospitality. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto.
