the room was awesome, the onsen was nice, especially the onsen outside the room, inside the room not so hot, could be hotter. Room is very spacious, comfy, a lot of amenities.

Paradise. It embodies Japanese refinement with special attention to the smallest details. The room was beautiful , comfortable and having our own private onsen was a big plus. The staff was outstanding bending over backwards to please. The kaiseki was grand , the food was delicious. The gracious lady who served all our meals went to great length to explain every single ingredient and course.

Very close to the bus station, we stopped here on our way from Matsumoto to Takayama.
Japanese-style room (ryokan), on the table a Japanese tea set (a teapot and bowls) with good sencha tea is waiting.
The available natural hot springs are a great place to rest and relax.
Meals in an atmospheric atmosphere in a yakuta with haori. Dinner is really delicious, quite decent fine dining. Breakfast is equally good.

The room was spacious and the atmosphere was relaxing. Breakfast and Kaiseki dinner were absolutely amazing and hearthy, with many local products and a different menu for our second day.

The staff here were soooo friendly and helpful. Most of the front desk staff speak decent English and are super helpful.
My fiance felt that the privaye onsen was a bit too hot and they were very quick in allowing us to use another one with slightly milder temperatures.
The numerous reviews of the lack of cleanliness in the hotel have either been overstated or addressed. The room was very large and clean.
The reviews of the onsen having algae are understandably ignorant, the algae is something that onsen enthusiasts enjoy because it (supposedly) has incredibly positive effects on your skin, and is a sign that the onsen water has not been treated with harsh chemicals.
The food was incredible and you should definitely opt for the half board. Both breakfasts and dinners we had were a huge spread and very filling, we did have issues breathing after finishing our meals.
It is regrettable that there are so many negative reviews which I feel are quite unfair after staying here, as they definitely did make me second guess my choice to stay here.
The place has been a bit worn with age but this has only lent to its charm.
The futon beds were very comfortable, and better than the ones we slept on at more expensive ryokans.
I wish that the gift shop was a bit more well stocked.
I hope to return to see this establishment rejuvenated in the future. Perhaps if the garden was restored and certain parts of the hotel refreshed, it would be a truly exceptional stay.
