My stay at Ryokan Tabist Kazeyuki was fantastic. From the moment I arrived, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, always making sure everything felt comfortable and welcoming. The room was spotless, cozy, and had that traditional Japanese charm that truly enhances the experience. One of the highlights of this ryokan is its three private onsens, which guests can use freely without needing to reserve. Whenever a bath is available, you simply enter and enjoy it in complete privacy. Each onsen has its own unique atmosphere, and you can clearly feel that they use natural geothermal hot spring water, characteristic of Japan’s volcanic activity. The warmth and texture of the water made every visit incredibly relaxing. The entire ryokan is peaceful and quiet—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The ambiance feels both authentic and intimate, offering a genuine traditional Japanese stay. In summary, this is a wonderful place with excellent service, unique private onsens, and a warm, authentic atmosphere. I would definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable ryokan experience.

The staff here were soooo friendly and helpful. Most of the front desk staff speak decent English and are super helpful. My fiance felt that the privaye onsen was a bit too hot and they were very quick in allowing us to use another one with slightly milder temperatures. The numerous reviews of the lack of cleanliness in the hotel have either been overstated or addressed. The room was very large and clean. The reviews of the onsen having algae are understandably ignorant, the algae is something that onsen enthusiasts enjoy because it (supposedly) has incredibly positive effects on your skin, and is a sign that the onsen water has not been treated with harsh chemicals. The food was incredible and you should definitely opt for the half board. Both breakfasts and dinners we had were a huge spread and very filling, we did have issues breathing after finishing our meals. It is regrettable that there are so many negative reviews which I feel are quite unfair after staying here, as they definitely did make me second guess my choice to stay here. The place has been a bit worn with age but this has only lent to its charm. The futon beds were very comfortable, and better than the ones we slept on at more expensive ryokans. I wish that the gift shop was a bit more well stocked. I hope to return to see this establishment rejuvenated in the future. Perhaps if the garden was restored and certain parts of the hotel refreshed, it would be a truly exceptional stay.
