Hotels in Kinosaki Onsen, Toyooka

Staying at Morizuya was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. This cozy, family-run ryokan radiates warmth and hospitality. Manager Hachisuka and his family do everything they can to make you feel at home, and our stay truly exceeded expectations. The ryokan is charming and traditional. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable tatami room with beautiful décor and a view of a peaceful garden. The room included a private toilet and sink, while bathing is done in their private onsen (yes, private — no need to bathe with others if that makes you uncomfortable). Morizuya provides yukata for men and women, sandals, bags, towels, and an onsen pass for the town’s seven public baths. Women can also choose a kimono for going out around town and shopping, while men can (and should!) relax in their yukata for this same purpose. I especially want to highlight how Manager Hachisuka truly went above and beyond. He’s not only an excellent photographer — taking beautiful photos of my fiancée and me among the cherry blossoms and guiding us to great photo spots — but also incredibly kind and attentive. He personally helped us with our schedule and drove us to the station early in the morning to ensure we caught our train on time. That level of care is something we’ll never forget. If you’re unsure where to stay, I strongly recommend Morizuya. We left with beautiful and unforgettable memories of this warm and authentic experience in Kinosaki. A few quick tips about the bath: There are two onsen inside the inn. From 7 AM to 3 PM, they’re public (men/women separated). From 3 PM to 11 PM they become private — no reservation needed. If the door’s unlocked, it’s available. Go in, lock the door behind you and enjoy. You’re welcome to bathe with your family or partner. Be sure to shower and clean yourself before entering the bath. Walking around town in your yukata(or kimono) is part of the charm, so don’t be shy — it’s all part of the experience.

Most amazing experience ever. Went with my husband and three daughters (8y, 11y and 13y) and we all loved it. First, the best Onsen in the village. Amazing staff, we felt very welcome. The children loved both the Onsen, free icecream in the lounge and the chocolate milk. Thank you!

Our stay at this ryokan was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and attention to detail. The hotel is stunning, with a beautifully traditional design that exudes charm. As is customary in a ryokan, guests are asked to remove shoes inside, but slippers are provided. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a hot cup of tea, which was a thoughtful touch. When we went out, the staff prepared the futons for us, ensuring everything was ready for a peaceful night’s rest. We opted for the breakfast, and it was both delicious and generous. We also enjoyed sampling the local beers at the hotel’s bar. The onsen, while small, was never crowded during our stay, and I often had the place to myself. I particularly enjoyed the serene outdoor bath. The views from our room were lovely, overlooking the street and river. Next time, I’ll request a room with a view on the forest, as the autumn colors were breathtaking. Every member of the staff was friendly, professional, and eager to help, making us feel incredibly welcomed throughout our stay. We truly had a memorable experience, and we’ll definitely return. Owners are so welcoming and nice. The house is lovely and you have everything you need there. I was sharing a big room only with one other person so it was very nice and I had lot of privacy. And the location is great! Bath houses are just few mins away.

Perfect contrast for our trip to Japan. Polite and competent staff, the private baths were also very fine. Exceptional traditional Japanese breakfast. Onsen pass included. Also transfer from/to the train station. Highly recommend.

the location by the river is beautiful, it's very peaceful. staff was very polite and kind, and gladly took a reservation for the private onsen (tattoos). I loved the room with the bath tub and the seating area + sleeping on the futon was really comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were great: lots of different dishes to try from, seafood, meat and vegetables.

The ryokan has 3 nice indoor onsens. The Kaiseki meals are outstandingly beautiful and tasty featuring traditional ingredients and cooking. The staff are responsive and provided service beyond the usual. Thank you so much for your advise! I managed to buy the sashimi knife !

The staff were so kind and helpful and very attentive to their guests. We felt so welcome and they went the extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. When they heard it was our honeymoon they were sure to make us little notes on our table for dinner which was very sweet. The photos do not do this place justice it's got an amazing atmosphere and feels very very special Be sure to treat yourself to their dinner option!!
