The location is perfect. The staff are friendly, diligent and extremely attentive. I was particularly impressed with Jean. The breakfast room is pleasant and breakfast was perfectly good.

Food excellent. We ate dinner twice with our guests. Scrambled egg at breakfast was the best I've had. Made to order! Room very good. Public rooms well appointed.

My room at the Royal Oak was great! The sleeping are and bathroom were both spacious. The food in the pub was also delicious!

Originally a coaching inn dating back to 1770, Lake District Castle Inn is now a modern venue with views of Bassenthwaite Lake.
