Ibrahim was a generous and welcoming host, who prepared an excellent breakfast. His family had lived on the site of the Roman city for 160 years, and he talked about growing up there. The air conditioning was cold and the shower water hot. He served me a delicious Jordanian breakfast including local fresh olive oil. The B and B is a ten minute walk from the ruins. To top it off, Ibrahim is the director of the Um Qeis museum, so if you have any questions on the history of the site right up to the 1980s when he and his family had to move out of the Ottoman village, he is your man. The atmosphere of the place is relaxed and welcoming and it is interesting to meet the people from local families who provide the meals. It is a comfortable, quiet and interesting place to stay with a lovely terrace and garden. And the stunning Umm Qais site is 5 minutes' walk away. This community project is the best bed and breakfast I have found in Jordan and I would sooner go here than to any of the fancy hotels.BeitGuest review byRogerGroup
