Absolutely amazing onsen hotel, great location, friendly staff, we also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner so much that we ordered it again. Same with the traditional breakfast. It doesn't get any more authentically Japanese than this, anywhere you go, quintessentially Japanese!

The host is very responsive, replying messages promptly and she speaks very good English so we have zero issues for checking-in ! Alya the host completed the dual pilgrimage and I guess from there she understand the need of travellers. We love the place, feel like home after our long hours of hiking journey. The place is very very clean, bonus is they provide the laundry & drying machines, and provided some snacks for us to eat those are very sweet gestures.

I was 5 km far from the guesthouse while I booked it on Booking, I just finished the mountain part of Kumano Kodo Kohechi at 18:00. The owner contacted me on Booking immediately, and told me she can drive to where I am (a restaurant) to pick me to Guesthouse Yui, so warm!

Absolutely magical location. The hotel has rooms with views that absolutely take your breath away. You look straight out onto a beautiful forest with nothing else in sight. The Japanese style rooms are huge and have a private bathroom with amazing views of the forest and river below. The outdoor onsen at the hotel is the best in Kawayu. It’s clean and right on the bank of the river looking out onto the forest. You can soak in the onsen and then take a dip in the fresh cold river a few steps away. This is a stay to remember for a lifetime.

Right next to the supermarket so we could get ingredients for dinner and breakfast. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Rooms have their own sinks which was a bonus. The room stayed very warm for winter. Really nice views and close to other sightseeing places.

    Amazing private onsens coming out of the rocks. A more spacious cupboard than most of the ones I stayed in while on my walk. A friendly owner, a family man with good communication.

    Incredibly good value. Lovely family who run it, who helped massively on when the bus times were. Ideal location next to the river hot springs. Breakfast was very tasty and the dinner was great too. Favourite place I stayed at during my two week trip to Japan. Shared bathrooms was basically like a private bathroom as only a few rooms.

    Proper family run guest house. Staff were lovely people and very helpful. Food was very good. They showed us how to use the buses to walk a superb length of the Kumano Kodo. You would enjoy watching people having fun organising their stone lined onsens by the river.

    Very good! Food is great. It is actually the best meal that I have ever experienced among all hotel stays in Japan. Bath experience is great that you can swim in the river and enjoy the onsen. The atmosphere is great. It is a warm little family hotel for travelers and hikers.

    the room is very clean. and it could fit all 5 of us easily. the yukatas provided are very useful for going to the onsen. the mixed gender onsen is fun! the whole family can be together, and with the swimming yukatas provided, we did not need our own swimwear. the breakfast buffet is excellent!!!! the dinner buffet just as good, and very worth the pricing!
