In beautiful Lakeland surroundings overlooking an idyllic brook, Glencree is situated between the villages of Bowness and Windermere. With free parking and free Wi-Fi, it serves hearty breakfasts cooked to order. Guests can swim in the property's off-site pool. Our stay at Glencree absolutely exceeded our expectations! The room was gorgeous, very modern and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious, with a selection of cereals to choose from, fresh fruit and breakfast cooked to order. Great location, and lots of parking in the church across the road if the guest spots are taken. Would highly recommend Glencree to anyone looking for a stay in Windermere.

A 5-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake, Ravenstone Manor is an 19th-century manor house set in 3 hectares of ground. The property is at the foot of Skiddaw, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. It offers stone walls and en suite bathrooms. Breakfast was good. Evening meal very expensive and disappointing, fish over done and greasy and chips very dry, we did not enjoy it at all so would eat out next time. Staff very nice, location and parking was excellent so we would return again.

For walkers, Ravenstone Lodge is at the start of some of the best Skiddaw walks, as well as being just 1 mile from the many walks around Dodd Wood. Keswick and Derwent Water are both just a 10-minute drive away, while the Western Lakes are around 30 minutes' drive. The view of the hotel is absolutely stunning! Sadly we are only staying for one night. We have a nice view from our room, and even a surprising sunset view from the toilet! We had dinner before heading to the hotel, but I instantly regretted it because the menu looks attractive and you could sit outside and look at the great view. The breakfast was very nice as well.
