Lovely place to stay! So calm and quiet, in the middle of the wonderful nature, yet not far from Paarl and Franschoek. The farm itself is so cute, and the house the most charming “tree-house”. Everything was truly great during our stay! Can only warmly recommend it.

Incredible views and wonderful service from the staff. We arrived very late in the evening and everything was ready and waiting for us to settle in. They even checked in on us to make sure we had arrived safely! Also, the tastiest wine in Franschhoek (no jokes!)

This estate is absolutely stunning! A kilometer long driveway takes you up to the main house and guest accommodation. We were in the rooms by the main house. So quiet and in an elevated position with views over beautiful gardens. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. We loved our stay here!

Situated amongst vineyards, the Vrede en Lust manor house dates back to 1688 and has been converted into elegant cottages with open fireplaces. The extensive gardens include an outdoor pool.

My wife and I decided to stay at Vrede en Lust to partake in the Franshoek Wine Train. It was a great decision. The Estate is part of the Navy line of the Franshoek Wine Train, which stops right by the entrance of the property. Our recommendation is to get there early and enjoy the Train for the day. There are many parking spaces in the Estate. Guests at the Estate get a complimentary wine tasting, so our last tasting of the day, after the wine train tour, was at Vrede en Lust, and we found our favorite wine of the day exactly there. The tasting itself is amazing, we loved their Viognier in particular. Checking in the Estate after the tasting was very easy and fast. We stayed at the Riesling room and had the most lovely time there. The room itself is not very spacious, but there are cabinets and an armoire for storage. Their bathroom is huge, with a large tub and a great shower. It was the perfect way to wrap up our day at the Estate. Breakfast was included, and the food there is delicious. Great staff everywhere. Amazing service. If you have the time, take a stroll by the Estate. The entire place is gorgeous and worthy of a slow walk and a few pics. Totally recommend.

The cottage's location was perfect for our excursions to the surrounding wine farms and other towns. We loved sitting on the front porch overlooking the farmland and enjoying the peace and calmness surrounding us.

Situated in Klipkraal and only 14 km from Theewaterskloof Golf Club, UnderHill Farm features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking.
